The City is located in eastern New Mexico. The City boasts itself as the home of Cannon Air Force Base. The city is about 200 miles east of Albuquerque. It is an agricultural and rail hub on the New Mexico-Texas state line. On Monday afternoon, a gunman identified as high-schooler, Nathaniel Jouett, 16, walked into Clovis-Carver Public Library. He opened fire and killed two employees. The gunfire erupted at the Library just after 4 p.m. local time. The employees were identified as Wanda Walters, 61 and Kristina Carter, 48.
Three adults and a 10-year-old child were also wounded. Governor Susana Martinez visited the four wounded victims recovering at a Lubbock, Texas, hospital. Clovis mayor David Lansford called the shooting "such a senseless tragedy, and there isn't a reason for it. When it's all said and done you can come up with a lot of explanations, but I don't anyone will ever be able to put a reason on why these kinds of things happen."
Sam Nathavong is an eyewitness who spoke to media sources. He said he was in a room studying when he heard the shots. He said: "He just started unloading pretty much the whole clip. I threw the table against the door and I barricaded myself in there. I thought he was coming my way and by then the cops got there." Police arrived to the scene to confront the shooter inside the library. Jouett was arrested without firing anymore shots, according to police.
Clovis Police Chief Douglas Ford said: "He gave up. He didn't resist." He will appear in juvenile court later this week. Jouet is expected to face first-degree murder charges. On Tuesday, Prosecutors said they intend to seek adult criminal charges against Jouett.
Davena Stevens is Jouett's 16-year-old girlfriend. She told media sources that Jouett was distraught over what she described as a bullying incident at school on Friday. Stevens said she received a Snapchat from Jouett the afternoon of the shooting. He said he would be over to her house at 4:30 p.m. However, when news of the shooting hit, Jouett was nowhere to be found. Stevens said she rushed over to the Jouett house. Stevens said: "They said two of his dad's guns were missing, and right then I knew it was probably him."
Chief Ford said that incident led to Jouett's suspension. He said the incident is part of the investigation. Police wouldn't confirm where the guns used in the crime came from. They said that's part of the investigation. Jouett has not commented on the allegations.
Jouett allegedly rediscovered church life about four months ago. Stevens said he had recently been baptized. Jouett attended an evening church service at the Living Word Church of God last month. Jouett stood over a podium, sobbing as he told a congregation about his life. Jouett proclaimed: "I hit rock bottom, and the only good thing about hitting rock bottom is you can only go up." Jouett was met with a chorus of "Amens," by the congregation. One member of the congregation belted out: "Let it out!" Jouett's testimonial was roughly one-half-hour. A video of the event was made available to media sources by the church.
Much of Jouett's testimonial centers on Jouett's estrangement from his biological mother. He told the congregation: "I was really sad." During the period when they first became estranged, he told the congregation: "I took a knife up and down my chest." Chris Jouett is Nathaniel's father. He and Nathaniel's stepmother spoke briefly to media sources on Tuesday outside the Clovis Police Department. They declined to comment publicly.

Georgia (WCJB) Pat Wooten, 58, is Walker County, Georgia, detention officer. He was arrested Saturday on a charge of murdering his son. Wooten is charged with shooting his son, Patrick Lance Wooten, 30, in the chest at their home on Hood Avenue in Chickamauga. The shooting happened around noon Saturday. Patrick Lance Wooten was declared dead at the scene. Walker County Coroner Dewayne Wilson said he was taking the body to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, Georgia.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a news release. Investigators did not release much information Saturday. According to the release, Chickamauga police arrested Patrick Lance Wooten on April 25, 2017. He was arrested on a charge of simple battery, family violence. He bonded out of jail Tuesday. A source close to the family requested anonymity because she did not have permission to speak publicly about the case. She said Patrick Lance Wooten was arrested last month for assaulting an immediate family member. He and his father got into an argument about his arrest Saturday morning. The source said the argument led to the fight and shooting.
Walker County court records show that Patrick Lance Wooten was charged with simple battery at least six times. All of the arrests occurred before the April case. He was arrested three times in 2014. All of those cases were dismissed. He had pending cases for arrests on August 5, 2016; January 25, 2017; and February 23, 2017. A woman who had been in a relationship with him requested restraining orders against Patrick Lance Wooten three times. Court records show the most recent request was in August of 2016.
Sheriff Steve Wilson said the senior Pat Wooten has had a long career in law enforcement. He worked as a paramedic in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Wilson said Wooten also worked for the police departments in Rossville and Chickamauga. In the beginning of he 1990s, Wooten worked for Hutcheson Medical Center as the hospital's EMS director and security director. Wilson was not sure Saturday how long Pat Wooten had worked in the jail. He estimated it was about six years. Wooten is being held at the Catoosa County Jail on one count of malice murder.
Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Herbert "Buzz" Franklin did not return a call Saturday night. Media sources asked if he was going to handle the prosecution or recuse his office because of Pat Wooten's role as a police officer.

Hate Crimes!
PUBLISHED: April 24, 2017 at 2:38 pm | UPDATED: April 24, 2017 at 10:15 pm
MARTINEZ, CA -- On November 12, 2016, police found Willie Sims, 28, brutally beaten and shot to death at an El Sobrante bar called the Capri Club. Several weeks later police identified and arrested three suspects: Ray Simons, 32, Daniel Porter-Kelly, 31, and Daniel Ortega, 31 (pictured above, from left to right). A sound recorder caught Porter-Kelly using the N-word in reference to Sims, who is African-American, at the bar. The three defendants attacked Sims in the back of the bar several minutes later. Sims was then shot in the head outside after he approached a car containing Simons and Ortega. Sims was so badly injured in the beating that the police officer who first found his body assumed he had been struck by a car.
Prosecutors sought hate crime charges against the three defendants. They argued the defendants had targeted Sims because of his race. However, the shooting death of Sims is no longer being prosecuted as a hate crime. A grand jury indicted the three men on murder, assault and robbery charges. The grand jury refused the prosecution’s request to say the homicide was motivated by the victim’s race.
The case began taking twists after defendant, Porter-Kelly, filed a successful motion to sever himself from defendants Ortega and Simons. Porter-Kelly claims he was not present when Sims was shot. He claims he left in a car four minutes earlier. However, prosecutors say he instigated the confrontation with Sims. He also joined Simons and Ortega in jumping Sims inside the bar. Prosecutors argue the bar attack led to the shooting.
After Porter-Kelly was severed from the case, prosecutors dismissed the charges and immediately re-filed them against all three defendants. Porter-Kelly’s attorney responded by insisting on a speedy preliminary hearing. This is a rare move in murder cases. Prosecutors responded by seeking the grand jury indictment against all three. In grand jury proceedings prosecutors ask witnesses questions outside the presence of defense lawyers or defendants. There is no cross-examination of witnesses. However, prosecutors are expected to introduce exculpatory evidence.
The court held a bail hearing following the grand jury’s indictment. Deputy District Attorney Chris Walpole said he could not explain why grand jurors did not seek hate crime enhancements for the murder charge. He said that he respected the jurors decision to not to hold the defendants responsible for a hate crime. Walpole argued: “This all started with Daniel Porter-Kelly.” He conceded that Porter-Kelly wasn’t present for the shooting.
Porter-Kelly's attorney said he and his friends used the N-word as a term of endearment and didn’t mean it in a hateful way. He described the homicide as a tragedy. He said prosecutors had assumed it was a hate crime because it happened four days after Donald Trump was elected president. He argued that Porter-Kelly is a hard-working family man who still had a job waiting for him should he be granted bail. He said that only a single, unreliable prosecution witness had said that, maybe, Porter-Kelly had punched Sims once in the back of the bar. The defense attorney argued: “(Porter-Kelly) had nothing to do with it. Nothing!” He later added: “He is desperate for his day in court.”

Judge Theresa Canepa refused to lower Porter-Kelly’s bail. His bail has been set at $1.08 million. However, she said she did not consider him to be a flight risk. She appeared open to the possibility of allowing Porter-Kelly to post the equity of a home as bail.
Sims was 28. He played the guitar, saxophone, violin and piano. He was best known as a jazz musician. He played with a college group called Jazz-ology. The group won several awards and performed at jazz festivals throughout Northern California.
Burglary Suspects!
Posted: Apr 21, 2017 10:30 AM PDT Updated: Apr 24, 2017 12:14 AM PDTDETROIT, MI (WCJB) - A shotgun blast leaves two Detroit police officers injured. The shotgun blast grazed one officer in his arm. His partner was hit in the face with two pellets. One pellet became lodged in his jaw. Juwan Plummer, 19, is charged with shooting and injuring the two Detroit police officers. Plummer became emotional days earlier after hearing the seven charges against him. The charges included intentional discharge of a firearm in a building causing serious injury.
Plummer is now out on bond. Plummer faces up to 20 years in prison. Vincent Redd is the young man's father. He insisted his son was acting in self-defense. The father says his son had already been shaken up Sunday night. His mental state stemmed from an apparent attempted break-in the week before. He says his son didn't know that officers had been called to investigate suspicious activity across the street.
Redd said (of the police): "They'd been looking at this house and that house. He was in the basement and he heard a noise on the side of the house coming towards the front." That's when Plummer fired a single shot through a front window. Redd says his son was trying to scare away people he thought were burglars. Redd continued saying: "The fact that he actually injured someone, on top of that, police officers: it scares him to death. It's not even so much the idea of him going to prison. It's the fact that he actually hurt somebody."
However, Prosecutors on Wednesday said the two young officers were in full uniform and banged on the door. Redd said: "He never heard anyone announce themselves. He just saw flashlights down by the window and heard a noise approaching the porch. When he heard that one of the police officers had been shot in the face, instantly, it tore him up."
Detroit police say that officer shot in face was originally in critical condition. They say he is thankfully, doing much better. He remains stable Friday after undergoing surgery to reattach his jaw. Redd said: "Once again our hearts and our prayers and well wishes go out to the officers and their families." Meanwhile Redd says he's working to find an attorney for his son who he says genuinely thought he was in danger. However, he understands it did happen and is prepared to face the consequences.

ST. LOUIS, MO (WCJB) -- Police have identified the two Laclede Gas employees who were shot and killed by Clinton Willis, age 51 (pictured above, center-left). Willis then turned the gun on himself in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood Thursday. Officials say Willis lived in the 5800 block of Highland. He shot the two employees identified as Alex Boschert, age 27 (pictured above, center-right) and William Froelich, age 52 (pictured above, center). Authorities said both workers had been with Laclede Gas for five years.
The two were in the 5900 block of Minerva just after 11 a.m., Thursday. Schron Jackson is a police spokeswoman. She told media sources the victims were working. [T]he suspect “walked up and started shooting at them before turning the gun on himself.” Police said all three were pronounced dead shortly after the shooting. Police believe the shooting was random. Police Capt. Mary Warnecke said: “We have no motive at this point in the investigation. It does not appear words were exchanged.”
Manyik McCoy was a witness to the shooting. The gas workers were performing a service call at McCoy’s new home. “She said: “I was calling 911 in one hand and Jesus in the other. It’s just hard, very hard. I would never have expected this.” McCoy said one of the victims put his hands up when the gunman approached and pleaded for him to put down the weapon. Police said a gun was found near Willis’ body.
Shortly after police identified Willis as a suspect, Ameren Missouri officials issued the following statement:
"In general, Ameren Missouri does not comment on customer information due to confidentiality policies. Due to the fact that a criminal investigation has been launched into yesterday’s tragic Laclede Gas employee shooting, we can tell you that an account under the name of Clinton E. Willis was not under the threat of disconnection. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the victims' family members and co-workers at Laclede Gas during this difficult time. As a precaution, Laclede Gas and Ameren Missouri pulled all employees off the streets Thursday as the situation developed."
Laclede Gas sent out a statement mourning the loss of the two employees:
"We are shocked and grieving today after two of our Laclede Gas employees were shot and killed this morning at one of our job sites. We are connecting with their loved ones now. And, we are working with police to understand more about this crisis. We are heartbroken, as you can imagine, and ask that you hold these employees, their families, their friends, Laclede Gas workers and our communities in your thoughts and prayers."
Ameren Missouri also issued a statement Thursday afternoon:
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ family members and co-workers at Laclede Gas during this difficult time. As a precaution, at 1 p.m. this afternoon, Ameren Missouri brought our crews in the city of St. Louis back into our Operating Centers. In the event of a customer outage, Ameren will ensure service is restored."

Posted: Apr 20, 2017 4:30 AM PDT Updated: Apr 21, 2017 9:44 PM PDTArlington, TX -- Keith Cornell Haynes, 27, is charged with capital murder of multiple persons. Arlington police arrested Haynes Wednesday night. He is suspected in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Kenishia Walker, age 25. Police found Walker dead in her bed with the covers pulled up to her neck. Walker was pregnant when she was fatally shot to death last Friday. Haynes has been charged with the death her unborn child as well.
Police outlined several facts in the arrest warrant affidavit. Last Friday, Walker's 8-year-old son discovered her body about 10:30 a.m. in her townhome. The home is located in the 2200 block of Ridge Run Road. There was no sign of forced entry. The only item that had been taken was Walker's cellphone. Walker's son told police that he was with his mother when he went to sleep about 9 p.m. He woke up in the middle of the night and went to his mother's room. He says she was in her room with a man he knew as "Moosie."
Haynes drove to the police station later that day. On his way to the station he posted a profanity-laced video to Facebook denying any involvement in Walker's death. Upon arrival he told police he wanted to clear his name after hearing rumors that he was responsible for Walker's death. Haynes told police his nickname was "Moosie." Haynes let police search his phone but said he had deleted his texts with Walker. He told police he went to Walker's home on April 12 to discuss day-care issues. He says he then returned to his home in Plano, Texas.
Haynes repeatedly denied any involvement in Walker's death.
According to the affidavit, police said that Walker was afraid Haynes would kill her. Police allege she shared her worry with a close friend. She sent that friend screenshots of several months of texts from Haynes. One screenshot text included what appeared to show an argument about their relationship. Police documents reveal that on March 30, 2017, Walker texted her friend. The text read: "If I ever come up dead please show the police this and the other screenshots." The affidavit does not say why she felt that way.
The arrest warrant affidavit indicates Haynes and Walker have known each other since high school. They were previously in a relationship and friends said Haynes was the father of Walker's unborn child. A friend (of Walker's) told police that Haynes wanted rekindle the relationship. However, Walker only wanted to co-parent because Haynes had lied to her in the past. Haynes was said to be in a relationship with another woman who is also pregnant with his child.
Haynes works as a civilian employee at the Dallas County Sheriff's Department. He is on the courtesy patrol. The patrol helps stranded motorists and assists with traffic control. He was originally hired in June 2013. However, he resigned a month later because of a family emergency. Haynes was hired again September 2015 as a detention service officer. Two months he later voluntarily demoted to courtesy patrol.
The department is conducting an administrative review of his employment status in the wake of Walker's slaying. The department also has a pending internal affairs investigation into a 2016 incident involving accusations that Haynes smuggled a cellphone to a relative who was incarcerated in Mississippi. He remained in the Arlington jail Thursday night on $250,000 bail.

(Joshua Smith, who prosecutors say told authorities he was the driver for another person who killed a Chicago judge (Chicago Police Department).)
As police search for the man who killed Chicago Judge Raymond Myles, police have discovered a connection between the alleged getaway driver and Myles’ girlfriend, who was also injured in the botched robbery that ended in death.
Court records show that Myles’ girlfriend was previously married and she divorced in 2015. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, her ex-husband is related to Joshua Smith, the man police allege drove the car that the killer escaped in, although the exact relationship is not specified.

Smith says that the shooter (who is unnamed and still at large) had watched Myles’ girlfriend for weeks to learn her schedule. They planned to go to the house and rob her when she was on her way to the gym, Smith revealed. At 5 a.m., while Smith waited in the car, the alleged robber crept up on her, took her bag and shot her in the leg. When Myles heard the gunshot, he rushed outside and confronted the gunman, who shot the 66-year-old Cook County associate judge four times, killing him.
Smith is being held without bail on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery and obstructing police.

The shootings started around 10:45 a.m. local time. Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Muhammad fired 16 rounds within 60 to 90 seconds. A PG&E male truck passenger, age 34 and two other men, ages 37 and 58-years-old were shot. Muhammad is black. All of the shooting victims were White males. The police chief said Muhammad is also accused of firing at a 59-year-old white man coming out of a house. However, he missed the target.
In social media posts Muhammad posted a dislike for white people and government officials. Police said the victims were apparently chosen at random. The slain men are believed to have had no connection to Muhammad. Dyer said Muhammad yelled "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest) when he was arrested Tuesday. Dyer told reporters: "We do not believe ... that this is a terrorist-related crime. This is solely based on race."
Officials said Muhammad will face four counts of murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The fourth murder count is from a previous incident last week. Muhammad was being sought in the April 13, 2017, slaying of Carl Williams, age 25. Williams was an unarmed security guard who was shot outside the Fresno Motel 6. Williams was shot multiple times that night and later died at a hospital. Police described the shooting as an "unprovoked" shooting.
Court records show Muhammad had prior run-ins with the law. Muhammad was indicted in 2005. The indictment led to charges of cocaine possession with intent to distribute; and possession of two rifles and a semiautomatic handgun. The public defender who represented him raised questions on whether Muhammad was mentally fit to stand trial. He noted that on several occasions that Muhammad had "appeared eccentric with some bizarre beliefs." He claimed Muhammad appeared to have hallucinations. Muhammad also said he'd had "at least two prior mental health hospitalizations." A psychiatric evaluation found that Muhammad suffered from psychosis and a substantial degree of paranoia. He was declared not competent to stand trial in July 2005. An order was issued committing him to a facility in October 2005. He was later found competent for trial in 2006. Muhammad pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 110 months in prison. The sentence was later reduced to 92 months.

A family member told reporters: “He’s good guy. He’d give you the shirt off his back. This man right here was a good man. I hate he’s gone. It’s not real.”
Stephens said he has killed 15 people in another Facebook post. He had been posting on Facebook for at least four hours before his page was taken down. Elementary Death!
Published: April 11, 2017 ~ Updated: April 17, 2017
San Bernardino, CA -- Cedric Anderson, 53, is the suspected gunman behind a murder-suicide at a California elementary school. Anderson had a brief and tumultuous marriage with his wife, Karen Smith, 53, before he gunned her down on Monday. Smith was a teacher at North Park Elementary School in San Bernardino. The Smith's mother, Irma Sykes, described Anderson as a ticking time bomb. She said her daughter had been friends with Anderson for about four years before they got married. Sykes said "the real Cedric came out" after the seemingly happy couple got married in January. Relatives said Anderson accused Smith of infidelity within a month of being married. Family members said the relationship came to an end when Smith left him about a month and a half after their late-January wedding.

San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan held a news conference Tuesday. Burguan said investigators went to Anderson's home seized electronics and a note. Burguan said investigators believe the note was written by Anderson. The note referenced his relationship with Smith: his need for closure; and how he felt disrespected. He also said Anderson had a history of weapons, domestic violence and drug charges before his marriage to Smith. Burguan said Anderson was arrested four times between 1982 and 2013. However, was never convicted in any of the cases.
Death on the Table ...!!
ORLANDO, FL — At a hearing earlier this month, accused killer Markeith Loyd asked the judge to appoint Miami attorney Terence Lenamon to represent him. A judge said Wednesday that he will not grant Markeith Loyd’s request for a specific Miami attorney. The judge stated that Loyd has the right to an attorney, but not the right to choose one that is being paid by the state. Loyd had previously insisted that he wanted to represent himself. However, the judge urged him to reconsider his decision.
During Wednesday’s hearing the judge listed a number of reasons for his decision not to grant Loyd’s request.
Loyd reiterated his objection to standby counsel and stood up during the hearing and said: "I’m done. And I want you to step off my case because you've been compromised. I'm done!" Loyd was told to have a seat. Loyd briefly met with his standby counsel. Loyd then agreed to allow the attorney to temporarily represent him. Loyd also waived his right to a speedy trial so his attorney can have proper time to prepare.
Loyd is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend Sade Dixon and her unborn child. He is also accused of killing Orlando police officer Deborah Clayton. The state of Florida has filed a motion of intent to seek death in both cases.
