Syracuse, NY ~ USA -- Syracuse Police Officer Chester Thompson, 47, raped the woman (pictured above, left) and receives three years probation, no jail time.
Police brutality is the deliberate use of excessive force, usually physical, carried out during law enforcement activities by a police officer engaging the civilian. In 702 shootings by Chicago police, zero federal civil rights charges filed. Police brutality is the abuse of authority by the unwarranted infliction of excessive force by personnel involved in law enforcement while performing their official duties. Police have killed 160 black people in 2016. Police misconduct leads to wrongful convictions. Stop the Unlawful Use of Deadly Force by Police. Act Now! “Know Your Killer Cops.”

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB) ~ United States -- A Seminole County deputy was fired this week in connection with an investigation into a man who killed his wife and two children last month before killing himself. Chericia Brown was stabbed 15 times by her estranged husband, Henry Brown, in a Chili’s parking lot before he ran over her with a car, investigators said. Deputies said Henry Brown then went to pick up his children from a babysitter’s house, became involved in a shootout with police at the hospital where Chericia Brown was taken, then shot and killed his children and himself. Final results of the investigation were released Thursday. The Seminole County sheriff said Deputy Chad Tavenner was fired because he dropped the ball in an investigation involving Henry Brown before the shooting.

Oakland, CA (WCJB) ~ United States -- A sex scandal involving Oakland police officers and a then underage girl has all the makings of a TV thriller. The saga is full of twists and turns. The scandal erupted months after Officer Brendan O'Brien committed suicide. O'Brien left a note spilling the details, including names. Three Oakland officers were placed on paid leave. A source said O'Brien in his suicide note confessed to exchanging messages with a young woman who goes by the name Celeste Guap. However, the note says he did not have sexual contact with her. The same sources said she has met multiple officers. In the note, O'Brien named the officers, including one sergeant, involved in the alleged sexual misconduct with Guap. Guap is the daughter of a Oakland police dispatcher. The police investigation will look at whether Guap was under age during some of the encounters with officers. (Click here for video)

New Orleans, LA (WCJB) ~ United States -- On September 4, 2005, New Orleans police received a call from an officer at Danziger Bridge reporting gunfire. Several NOPD officers—including Sgt. Kenneth Bowen, Sgt. Robert Gisevius, Officer Anthony Villavaso, and Officer Robert Faulcon—arrived at the scene in a Budget rental truck. They proceeded to open fire with assault rifles and a shotgun on an unarmed family, the Bartholomews, who had been walking to a grocery store and were then sheltering behind a concrete barrier. 17-year-old James Brissette—a family friend—was killed, and four other people were wounded. The police shooters stated that while approaching the bridge, they had been fired on by civilians, and were forced to return fire. Homicide detective Arthur "Archie" Kaufman was made the lead investigator on the case. He was later found guilty of conspiring with the defendants to conceal evidence in order to make the shootings appear justified, including fabricating information for his official reports on the case. NOPD lieutenant Michael Lohman also encouraged the officers to "provide false stories about what had precipitated the shooting" and plant a firearm near the scene. (Click here for video)

Aiken, S.C. (WCJB) ~ United States -- A horrifying new dashcam video shows at least one white member of the Aiken, S.C. Police Department search inside a black man’s rectum for the apparent crime of being a passenger in a car with paper tags, which, it bears noting, is not a crime in the state of South Carolina. Driving a car with paper tags isn’t illegal either, as long as they aren’t expired. The car belonged to a woman named Lakeya Hicks, who had the paper tags because she had recently purchased the vehicle. Hicks’ tags weren’t expired, and a check on her license came up clean. However, the cops didn’t let her go. (Click here for video)

Brooklyn, NY (WCJB) ~ United States -- When an unmarked police car drove very close to mailman Glenn Grays in Brooklyn, Grays shouted at the car. Four plainclothes officers got out of the car and started to handcuff him. Grays initially tried to resist, and one of the officers said “Stop resisting! You’re going to get hurt if you don’t give me your fucking hands.” (Click here for video)

Royal Oaks, MI (WCJB) ~ United States -- Another case of police brutality in the city of Royal Oak. The man doesn't resist at all! The reason for his arrest remains unknown. It appears as if the officers wanted to rip a limb off of him! (Click here for video)

San Francisco, CA (WCJB) ~ United States (Feb. 29, 2016) -- Cops CAUGHT ON CAMERA brutally beating man. When they realize they've been FILMED they try to confiscate the camera and ID the guy recording them. WATCH the video and see how well that went for them. SPREAD THE WORD! THIS IS HOW YOU RESPOND when a VIOLENT COP tries to take your camera! Marion County, Florida ~ United States -- A federal grand jury in Tampa has indicted a former Florida sheriff’s deputy on charges of violating the civil rights of an unarmed Black man, who was brutally beaten after surrendering to him and other officers following a brief chase last year, reports Reuters. Former Marion County sheriff’s deputy Jesse Terrell, 33, is accused of using excessive force against Derrick Price during the incident in August 2014 that was captured on video, according to the indictment handed down late Tuesday. Four of Terrell’s former colleagues pleaded guilty to the charge after accepting a deal, according to media sources. (Click here for video)

New York ~ United States -- Opening statements and testimony began this week in the long-awaited trial of New York City police officer Peter Liang for the killing of Akai Gurley, an unarmed 28-year-old African-American man walking down the stairs in his apartment building, part of the Louis H. Pink housing projects in the East New York section of Brooklyn. Jury selection in the case was completed last week. Gurley died more than 14 months ago, on November 20, 2014, as two cops were making a “vertical patrol,” checking the stairwells in the high-rise building. As Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Marc Fliedner put it, opening the prosecution’s case, “Akai Gurley is dead today because he crossed paths with Peter Liang.” Liang was indicted by a Brooklyn grand jury on manslaughter and other charges last February, and both prosecution and defense agree on the immediate events that led to Gurley’s death.(Click here for video)
Oklahoma City, OK ~ United States -- Daniel Holtzclaw has officially been sentenced for the rape and sexual assault of 13 Black women in Oklahoma. Will serve the rest of his life behind bars. Chicago, IL -- Surveillance video (Click here for video) in connection with a Chicago police officer's fatally shooting 17-year-old Cedrick Chatman was released today by attorneys for the teen's family. A federal judge ordered the release of footage showing the 2013 shooting today after the city withdrew its objection to its being made public. Chicago police officer Kevin Fry fatally shot Chatman Jan. 7, 2013, in broad daylight during a foot chase, according to court records. Chatman’s family had fought for the video to be released as part of a wrongful death lawsuit they filed over the shooting against the city, Fry and Chicago police officer Lou Toth, who pursued Chatman along with Fry during the foot chase. Family members have argued the video will counter the city and police’s narrative that the 17-year-old was a danger to police. IPRA concluded the officers' actions were justified because they reasonably believed Chatman was armed at the time.

Brooklyn, NY -- A newly-released surveillance video (Click here for video) contradicts an undercover NYPD police officer who arrested four people in Brooklyn for allegedly trying to rob him on Dec. 26, 2015, according to a defense lawyer. Jean Scott, 33; Peterson Duplan, 28; Ricardi Joseph, 29; and Samantha Dabel, 24, said that they were approached by a man who tried to buy drugs from them at a hardware store. The undercover cop was identified as Winston McDonald, who testified in court that Duplan allegedly flashed a switchblade at him outside of the store, and said, "Give me your money or I will stab you," according to court papers.

Forth Worth, TX -- The mother of ‘affluenza’ teen Ethan Couch was ordered released from a Tarrant County jail cell after a bond hearing this afternoon. She may be leaving the jail soon. Judge Wayne Salvant ordered her bond reduced to $75,000 with several conditions. The conditions include weekly visits with the Community Supervisions and Corrections Department of Tarrant County. She is also not to consume alcoholic beverages or use social media. “Let’s look at it for what it is, I understand everyone is concerned and there is outrage in the community… but as a judge I have to look at the law,” said Judge Salvant. Couch and her lawyers were present at a 2 p.m. bond hearing at the Tarrant County Justice Center hoping to have her bond reduced. It was originally set at $1 million since she was charged with Hindering Apprehension of a Felon. (Click here for video)

Salt Lake City, Utah -- Exactly one year after a man was shot and killed during an altercation with a Salt Lake City Police Department officer, a former Davis County Sheriff says new video (Click here for video)footage indicates the officer's actions may not have been justified. James Barker, 42, was shot and killed January 8, 2015 after officer Matthew Taylor responded to a 911 call about a suspicious person and an altercation ensued, during which Barker appeared to strike the officer with a snow shovel.

Philadelphia, PA ~ USA -- Corrupt Justice™ has obtained a video (Click here for video) of the police shooting that took place Thursday night at 60th and Spruce streets. Edward Archer, a 30-year-old Delaware County man who has allegedly claimed an allegiance to ISIS, shot and wounded Officer Jesse Hartnett at 11:41 p.m. last night, city police said. Stunningly, Hartnett can be seen in the video getting out of his patrol car and chasing down the shooter after being ambushed. Officials say Hartnett is in critical but stable condition.

Miami, FL ~ USA -- A Florida jury began weighing on Tuesday whether a man who killed his wife and posted a photo of her blood-spattered, lifeless body on Facebook committed first-degree murder. Attorneys for Derek Medina, 33, argued that he was acting in self-defense when he fired eight shots at Jennifer Alfonso, 27, in the kitchen of their Miami-area residence. The August 2013 shooting followed a fight in which she had threatened to leave, prosecutors said during closing statements. They argued that Medina retrieved a .380-caliber pistol from his bedroom and pulled the trigger repeatedly in a premeditated act of murder. "Every single shot hit her because he was aiming and he wanted her dead," said Assistant State Attorney Leah Klein in Miami-Dade County circuit court. Medina wrote on Facebook shortly before turning himself in: "I'm going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife. My wife was punching me, and I am not going to stand any more with the abuse so I did what I did," he added in the post. (Click here for video)

Montgomery County, Pa. -- Bill Cosby, the comedian and entertainer once known as “America’s dad”, appeared in court (Click here for video) to face his first criminal charge for sexual misconduct on Wednesday, for an incident in which he allegedly drugged and violated a woman who considered him to be her mentor. In a hearing lasting less than 10 minutes, Judge Elizabeth McHugh read out the three second-degree felony charges of aggravated indecent assault. He did not appear visibly moved; when asked if he understood the charges, he replied simply: “Yes.” Bail was set at $1m, of which Cosby will have to pay 10% on Wednesday. Cosby faces up to 10 years in prison for each charge.

It was unclear what led to the incident, in which more than two dozen shots seemed to be fired. No deputies were injured. In accordance with protocol, a multi-agency investigation was underway.

Oklahoma City OK ~ USA -- A former Oklahoma City police officer was convicted Thursday of 18 of the 36 counts he faced, including four counts of first-degree rape, related to accusations that he victimized 13 women on his police beat in a minority, low-income neighborhood. Daniel Holtzclaw, 29, sobbed (Click here for video) as the verdict was read aloud. He could spend the rest of his life in prison based on the jury's recommendations, which include a 30-year sentence on each of the first-degree rape counts. Among the other charges he was convicted of were forcible oral sodomy, sexual battery and second-degree rape. The jury, which deliberated for about 45 hours over four days, recommended he serve a total of 263 years in prison. The judge will decide later whether he will have to serve the sentences consecutively.

Chicago, Ill. ~ USA -- The Chicago police, facing almost daily protests and a newly announced Justice Department investigation, released footage (Click here for video) Monday night showing a 38-year-old black man being shocked by a Taser and dragged down a hallway by officers in 2012.

"Hidden Gun!"

Published:Tuesday, May 08, 2012 - Updated: Friday, May 11, 2012, 9:06 PM PST

OAKLAND, Calif. (WCJB) -- The family of a man shot and killed by Oakland police claim he never pointed a gun at an officer, but authorities say witnesses have a different story. Alan Dwayne Blueford was killed early Sunday morning after being chased by police.

According to police, two officers thought one of the men had a gun, so they decided to stop them and that's when all three took off running. One officer chased Blueford for about two blocks. The officer fired at Blueford four times, according to the coroner's report. Blueford was hit in the front of his body with three rounds. Investigators believe a fourth round hit the officer in his own foot.

The Oakland Police Department and the Alameda County District Attorney's Office are investigating the fatal shooting.

Back Shot!

Published: Feb 24, 2012 - Updated: Friday, May 11, 2012, 2:51 PM PST

Oakland, CA -- Tony Jones, the cousin of Oscar Grant, is recuperating from a police-inflicted bullet wound in the same hospital where his cousin died after being shot by an officer three years ago. Grant, 22, was shot on New Year's Day 2009 by a Bay Area Rapid Transit officer on a platform in Oakland after he was one of several people restrained by officers responding to reports of a fight. Grant, who was unarmed, died from his wounds. Officer Johannes Mehserle was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and served half of a two-year sentence. The Mehserle verdict sparked riots in Oakland, where many wanted the officer found guilty of second-degree murder. Mehserle testified during his trial he had meant to use his stun gun to restrain Grant.

Oakland Police have said very little about the Sunday night incident in which Jones, 24, was shot in the lower back while running from officers after his vehicle had been pulled over for being associated with a robbery.

"The officer ran after the passenger, and discovered the passenger was in possession of a firearm. The officer discharged his firearm, which struck the passenger," police said in a statement, adding that a firearm had been recovered from the scene. Jones' lawyer said his client did not have a firearm and called the officers "negligent," accusing them of using "unreasonable force." "[Jones] is 24 years old. He' a young guy and he started to run," his attorney said. "He knew his cousin had gotten shot by the police before. He had grown up in an environment where he was afraid of police officers." The attorney, along with Jones' mother, Bertrina Works-Grant, were denied access to Jones' hospital room for several hours by the Oakland Police Department, McCoy said, even though Jones was not under arrest and charges hadn't been filed. "The police stopped me at the door and, meanwhile, he's in there loudly requesting to see his attorney," the lawyer said. After speaking with a supervisor, the attorney and Works-Grant were able to see Jones. "I talked to my son,'" Works-Grant told media sources. "My son said 'Momma, the officers [are] lying. They watched me get out of the car. They watched me walk. They started speeding up and I took off running across the street. And when I took off running ... I heard the gun go pow pow pow." The Oakland Police Department did not return a message from news reporters. The attorney said he planned to seek unspecified damages on behalf of his client. "There's a long way to go," he said. "There's a lot of young African-American men that are being stopped and shot by the police without them going through the protocol."

Another O.P.D. Homicide!

November 8, 2010 OAKLAND, CA -- A 37-year-old Oakland man was killed in an officer-involved shooting Monday night, police said. Police responded to a domestic dispute between a man and a woman in the 5800 block of Bancroft Avenue at 9:40 p.m., police spokesman Officer Jeff Thomason said. When officers arrived, the man ran toward Trask Street. More officers arrived and found the man in the 5800 block of Trask Street. The officers fired several rounds from their service pistols. The man was hit and pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were injured in the incident. The officers' names are not being released at this time. They have been put on administrative leave, which is routine in officer-involved shootings. The shooting is being investigated by the homicide and internal affairs sections and the District Attorney's Office, and police have not said what prompted the shooting. Anyone with information about the incident may contact the Homicide Section at 510-238-3821.

K-9 Doggie Attack!

December 18, 2009

"THESE ARE HARD times for the city of Oakland. To get out of a deep financial hole, the City Council set to cut libraries and museums, eliminate civilian police department employees, slash public works and make other cuts in services that our residents need. In the middle of this financial crisis, a Pleasant Hill law firm has decided to hit Oakland taxpayers with a lawsuit that amounts to little more than a shakedown. The class action lawsuit, instigated by Mike Rains, an attorney best known for representing Barry Bonds [and the Oakland Riders (Corrupt Oakland Police Officers who planted evidence on Oakland Citizens)], would force Oakland to pay millions of extra dollars in overtime to cops — but not for patrolling the city's streets or investigating crimes." Incredibly, three of the lead plaintiffs [Police Officers] were fired for cause: • One for threatening an elderly couple with his service handgun; • one for watching pornography while on duty; and • one for providing police investigation information to the criminals under investigation. Yet plaintiffs' attorneys want Oakland residents to pay these three former officers for the time they spent putting on and taking off their uniforms. • One plaintiff in the lawsuit, a sergeant making $115,000 [per year with a high school diploma], is demanding overtime for the few minutes of reading e-mail and making phone calls he does before his shift. At the same time, he admits making personal phone calls and reading personal e-mail on the city's dime. • This same sergeant drives an unmarked police vehicle to and from his home in Concord — the city pays for gas and repairs. Once a week, however, he spends about 11 minutes dropping off paperwork on his way home. He is in court demanding overtime for those 11 minutes. • One veteran testified that it takes him 30 minutes to put on his uniform — including 10 minutes to pin on his medals. One lieutenant wants overtime for the few seconds he spends shaking his pepper spray before each shift. See: "Police's lawsuit against Oakland is shameful" The Chauncey Bailey Murder and OPD's Homicide Unit: "The [Oakland Polices' Homicide Division] lead detective [Sgt. Derwin Longmire] (Pictured Right) assigned to investigate journalist Chauncey Bailey's killing ignored evidence linking Yusuf Bey IV, former leader of Your Black Muslim Bakery, to a role in the killing and interfered in two other unrelated felony cases involving Bey IV, according to an investigation by the Chauncey Bailey Project."
"[T]he relationship between Longmire and the Bey family seemed to trouble another homicide detective. Homicide Sgt. Lou Cruz, assigned to write one of the search warrants for the Aug. 3, 2007 raid on the bakery, did the work at home to keep Longmire ignorant, said two officers familiar with Cruz's actions. "Cruz was worried about Longmire," one of them said. Cruz did not return a call requesting an interview." Related Acts of Oakland Police Corruption • (October 2008) At least 12 Oakland Police officers have been pulled from street duty while investigators examine their warrant applications in drug cases. The officers in question are accused of making "misstatements" in those applications, claiming substances purchased in undercover buys from suspects were actual narcotics, when in fact that had not been confirmed by the police crime lab when the warrants were issued. OAKLAND, Calif. -- In the wake a growing Oakland police scandal, Alameda County District Attorney Tom Orloff announced Tuesday that his office was forced to dismiss charges in a case involving evidence that was illegally seized by Oakland police officers based on a faulty search warrant. “There is no good faith here, these are willful,” said assistant public defender Ray Keller. “The thing that is really disturbing is that it is a reckless disregard for the truth; they are lying to judges.” • (September 2008) The city was hit with fresh allegations this week that a former Oakland police officer [Richard Valerga] pulled a woman over for no reason and touched her inappropriately. A civil rights lawsuit filed Monday alleges that Richard Valerga stopped a woman in March 2005, ordered her to sit in his patrol car and held her hand and touched her leg and thighs before letting her go. It was the latest complaint in a case that has already cost the city $2 million. The [Oakland] City Council agreed in July [2008] to pay $2 million to settle a complaint brought by 16 women who said Valerga groped or sexually harassed them before he left the police department in 2005. • (December 2007) Thirty (30) [African-American] men have filed a $10 million federal civil rights lawsuit against the city of Oakland in the latest complaint to accuse police officers of conducting invasive and illegal strip searches of them in public. Police officers pulled down the men's pants and exposed their genitalia or buttocks on the street during incidents from 2003 to 2007, the plaintiffs said in the suit filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in San Francisco. The searches occurred in public throughout the city, including in West and East Oakland and in the city's Temescal neighborhood, according to the suit. • (December 2006) An Oakland police sergeant, Chris Del Rosario, will stand trial in Sonoma County on charges he assaulted his girlfriend and threatened two witnesses with a gun who tried to stop him, officials said. He was previously accused of making homophobic slurs while on duty on two occasions in 2001 and 2002. In the 2001 incident he was suspended without pay and the other complaint was resolved through mediation. In 1995 he was convicted of pointing a pistol at a Livermore man in Pleasanton in November 1994 while off-duty, firing some shots into the air and then leading police on a high speed chase which ended on Interstate 580. Update: Christopher Del Rosario, an Oakland police officer since 1993 and a sergeant since 2003, pleaded guilty to the charge last month as he was about to stand trial for the incident, the Sonoma County District Attorney's office has announced. In exchange for his plea, the district attorney's office dropped two felony counts filed against Del Rosario for brandishing a gun at a person in a vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. Del Rosario initially pleaded not guilty to the crime and was set to go to trial this summer. However, last week he changed his plea to guilty. He could face a maximum of 19 years in jail when he is sentenced Oct. 17. But Deputy District Attorney Christine Cook said a judge has indicated that Del Rosario probably will get one year in county jail and five years probation for the crime. The sergeant recently retired from the Oakland Police Department on a disability. He previously had been on disability leave for a medical problem with his shoulder and other injuries. (Collecting a Disability Pension at Oakland Taxpayer Expense). • (February 2003) In by far the largest legal settlement in Oakland municipal history, plaintiffs who claimed they were victimized by a group of rogue cops known as "the Riders" will share $10.5 million in damages, The Chronicle has learned. The settlement also will bring major changes in how the police department operates and deals with the public, officials will announce today at a City Hall news conference. The payout will go to 119 plaintiffs who filed federal civil rights lawsuits claiming four police officers kidnapped, beat and planted drugs on them during the summer of 2000. The plaintiffs alleged that the Oakland Police Department either encouraged or turned a blind eye to the abuse. Three of the four Oakland (Rider) Police officers involved are pictured from left to right, Matthew Hornung, 31, Jude Siapno, 34, and Clarence "Chuck" Mabanag, 37 (behind Siapano) - Pictures are from 2003. • Note: In 2007 Matt Hornung, then 35, (pictured above to the far left) received $1.5 million dollars from the City of Oakland's "insurance carrier, Kemper Insurance Companies, said Erica Harrold, spokeswoman for Oakland City Attorney John Russo." Hornung said [...] of the settlement, "It's a compromise. There were no winners in this." He said he and his wife, Tai, a San Leandro police officer, "just want to move on and raise our daughters, ages 1 and 3." Hornung's lawsuit claim[ed] Officers Keith Batt and Steve Hewison, who were rookies at the time, and Sgt. Jon Madarang, who worked in internal affairs, lied on the stand in hopes of convicting Hornung and Officers Clarence "Chuck" Mabanag and Jude Siapno. In any event, it is unheard of for a criminal defendant who is acquitted to win money in a lawsuit. The law of the State of California [and the laws of the United States] holds that a witness in any judicial proceeding (court, etc.) is immune from civil suit ... even if the witness testified falsely under oath ("witness-immunity"). "The United States Supreme Court has held that trial witnesses are entitled to absolute immunity from subsequent civil liability for their trial testimony. Briscoe v. LaHue, 460 U.S.325, 103 S.Ct. 1108, 75 L.Ed.2d 96 (1983)." • Corrupt Justice: O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murder and was sued for $33.5 million dollars. Pat Gonzales (a Mexican), a 10-year veteran, shot and killed Gary King Jr., 20, about 5 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2007 near 54th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way in North Oakland, California (Third (3) Shooting, all Black men). Gonzales told investigators King started to reach down toward his waistband. Gonzales tried to stop the movement and felt the gun. OPD Officer Pat Gonzales, a department firearms instructor and SWAT team member, was cleared of any wrongdoing in the previous two shootings, police said. In June 2006, Gonzales shot and wounded 17-year-old Amir Rollins, who was armed with a sawed-off rifle on the 1800 block of East 25th Street, police said. In March 2002, Gonzales shot and killed Joshua Russell, 19, of Hayward after he and an accomplice tried to rob a man at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Burger King restaurant at 14th Avenue and East 12th Street. • The First Murder (December 31, 2007): OPD Officer Hector Jimenez (a Mexican) graduated from the Oakland (California) police academy in February 2007. Ten (10) months later, on December 31, 2007, Jimenez pulled over 20-year-old Andrew Moppin. Officers Hector Jimenez and Jessica Borello (a Mexican) shot and killed 20-year-old Andrew Moppin-Buckskin at 47th Avenue and International Boulevard after he ran from his car following a traffic stop, police said. Moppin-Buckskin was not armed, but the officers believed he had been reaching for his waistband, police have said. Less than seven (7) months later, Officer Jimenez would kill again under the "reaching for the waist-band" defense. The Second Murder (July 25, 2008): On July 25, 2008, Officer Jimenez shot and killed Mack "Jody" Woodfox III, age 27. Officer Jimenez said he believed Woodfox, a drunken-driving suspect, had been reaching into his waistband for a gun when he jumped from his car and ran after a chase that ended at East 17th Street and Fruitvale Avenue in the Fruitvale district. Woodfox , who was shot in the back, turned out not to have a gun. Not only was Woodfox found to be unarmed, but a preliminary autopsy revealed that he was shot "numerous times" in his back from approximately 25 feet away. (Second Shooting, both unarmed victims were African-American males.) It's time for the Federal Government to take over the Oakland Police Department.
