• March 26, 2009: "A Sacramento County sheriff's deputy, Chu Vue, his two brothers and a friend face murder charges in connection with last fall's fatal shooting of a California correctional officer, the Sacramento Police Department announced today. Vue, 44, was arrested near his Elk Grove home this morning, police Sgt. Norm Leong stated in a news release. Gary and Chong Vue, who currently are in custody in Minnesota facing murder charges in an unrelated slaying."

OAKLAND — A sister of Lovelle Mixon (pictured left) who was inside the East Oakland apartment when Mixon engaged in combat with OPD, before being killed by Oakland SWAT sergeant Pat Gonzalez, March 21 (2009) has filed a claim against the city. The claim requests payment for her and her grandmother in an amount of more than $10,000 after she was wounded by a stun grenade. The claim outlines her being subjected to hours of subsequent mistreatment by police. The claim filed on behalf of Mixon's sister, who was 16 at the time of the shootings, said she was aware Mixon had entered the apartment earlier, but unaware of his exact location when police raided the apartment.

Mixon's sister was leaving a bathroom when police entered and threw an "explosive device directly at her," the claim says. The device struck the sister's left leg, exploded, and left a serious burn, the claim says. The sister subsequently fled the house where, according to the claim, an officer accused her of "hiding this Nigger!" The claim further alleges one officer (Patrick Gonzales) said unless she said who else was inside the apartment, "I swear to God, I'll blow your head off."

The sister was never charged with a crime. The girl was then taken to the hospital where police repeatedly interrupted her conversations with a doctor as she was treated, the claim alleges. She was then questioned further at police headquarters until 2 or 3 a.m., the claim says. The sister says at no point was she told she did not have to answer questions nor was she offered a lawyer. The claim was filed Sept. 18, 2009 and seeks damages in excess of $10,000 for, among other things, bodily injury, pain and suffering, emotional distress and medical expenses.

The Oakland attorney representing the sister, was out of the country last week, but said in an e-mail that litigation is under consideration. "Whatever Lovelle Mixon may have done (and I am certainly not defending that), I don't believe there can be any justification for the way this young woman was endangered and, subsequently, treated," the attorney wrote. He filed the claim on behalf of the sister, whose name is being withheld because she is a minor, and Mary Mixon, the grandmother and legal guardian of the girl.

Jew Alex Katz, a spokesman for City Attorney John Russo, said the issue is still pending, adding, "We will give (the claim) the attention that it merits." Officer Jeff Thomason, the Police Department's spokesman, said some of the allegations in question have been investigated and will be covered in the January report. Others, he said, are relatively new and are still under investigation.

The Oakland Police Version of Events

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Authorities in Oakland (who have a proven history of lying, as well as making false statements) say Lovelle Mixon shot and killed of three police officers and seriously wounded a fourth in Oakland, Calif., on March 21, 2009. Mr. Mixon was later slain in a gunfight with police in which two officers were killed. Authorities say 26-year-old Mixon opened fire on Officer John Hege and 40-year-old Sgt. Mark Dunakin after they pulled him over during a routine traffic stop around 1 p.m. on 21 March 09, killing Dunakin.

• New Orleans Police Department^{(January 1, 2009 Murder of Unarmed Black Man, shot nine (9) times in the back!!)} In the Black Community, a routine traffic stop is synonomous with a death sentence.

Mixon allegedly fled after shooting the first two officers following the traffic stop, then shot two more after a SWAT team entered an apartment in which he was hiding. Mixon was killed by officers, police said. Oakland Police said Mr. Mixon had a no-bail warrant for his arrest on charges of violating parole (a very minor offense in California). He had previous convictions in Alameda County for grand theft and possession of marijuana.

The first shooting happened in the 7400 block of MacArthur Boulevard about 1:16 p.m. when Dunakin and Hege were shot with a handgun during a traffic stop. Dozens of Oakland police, Highway Patrol officers and Alameda County sheriff's deputies cordoned off stretches of blocks around 73rd and 74th avenues and MacArthur Boulevard.

Then they heard that the suspect was in an apartment around the corner on 74th Avenue. Police surrounded the building and, after the Oakland SWAT team tried to communicate with the suspect, they entered the building. Mixon opened fire with an assault weapon, police said. Sakai and Romans were fatally wounded and another officer was grazed in the head. Other officers killed Mixon. No other occupants in the complex were injured.

Update: March 24, 2009

The wounded Officer turns out to be Sgt. Pat Gonzales. According to Oakland Officials, "When SWAT officers, acting on a tip, later stormed the nearby apartment, Mixon opened fire with an AK-47 assault rifle, (which fires a 7.62mm round) killing Sgt. Ervin Romans, 43, and Sgt. Daniel Sakai, 35, and (this is a lie ->) wounding Sgt. Gonzales before other officers shot him to death."

"A third officer, grazed by a bullet, was treated and released," said [Oakland] police spokesman Jeff Thomason.

C.J. Note: The 7.62mm round has alot of kick, high recoil and its weight overrides its velocity. This means it is more inaccurate then smaller caliber rounds, but penetration by the bullet is greatly increased. The 7.62mm rounds weight will carry it through even the strongest of bullet resistant vests and its size makes for devestating entry and exit wounds. A shot from an 7.62mm AK-47 will tumble inside the target, doing considerable damage and transferring all of its monentum to the target. There's a very good chance Sgt. Gonzales killed Mixon, making it his fourth kill as an OPD Officer!

• B.A.R.T. Police, Racism, Homicide^{(Video of The Oakland New Year's Day (2009) Transit Shooting )} OAKLAND — A Black man died after a [White] BART [Police] officer [shot him in the back] early Thursday at the Fruitvale station, authorities said. The man was identified by his family and authorities as Oscar Grant, 22. The shooting occurred about 2:15 a.m. on the platform where a Dublin-Pleasanton train from San Francisco had stopped, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.

Tension between police and the community has risen steadily since the fatal shooting of unarmed 22-year-old Oscar Grant(pictured left) by a transit police officer at an Oakland train station on Jan. 1, 2009.

That former Bay Area Rapid Transit officer, Johannes Mehserle, has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 23, 2009.

Violent protests erupted on the streets of Oakland in the weeks after Grant's death, further inflaming tensions.

Oakland police announced the death of 41-year-old Officer John Hege earlier Sunday (March 22) but later said that Hege was being kept alive while a final decision was made about donating his organs.

Other Allegations

In 2007, Mixon became a "person of interest" for the murder of Ramon Stevens, a 42-year-old who was shot on the corner of 86th and E. 14th Street. Stevens' sister, Felicia Stevens said Sunday she knows it was Mixon who killed her brother but police said they could not find any witnesses at the time to prove Mixon was the shooter.

"There is no direct evidence that Mixon committed that crime, the murder of Ramon Stevens," said Oakland Police Det. Lou Cruz. "There is nobody saying I saw Lovell Mixon shoot Ramon Stevens, not one witness." But Stevens, who's nephew is Mixon's cousin, said she knows of one person who saw the shooting but who refused to step forward. She said her brother owed Mixon $30 for what she thinks were drugs at the time of the shooting.

Gary King, Jr.

Oakland Police Officer, Sgt. Pat Gonzales (a Mexican), a 10-year veteran, shot and killed Gary King Jr., 20, (pictured left) about 5 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2007 near 54th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way in North Oakland (California). Gonzales told investigators King started to reach down toward his waistband. Gonzales tried to stop the movement and felt the gun. Gonzales, a department firearms instructor and SWAT team member, was cleared of any wrongdoing in the previous two shootings, police said. All three persons shot by Officer Gonzales have been African-American males.

Andrew Moppin-Buckskin

Officer Hector Jimenez (a Mexican) graduated from the Oakland (California) police academy in February 2007. Ten (10) months later, on December 31, 2007, Jimenez pulled over 20-year-old Andrew Moppin. Officers Hector Jimenez and Jessica Borello (a Mexican) shot and killed 20-year-old Andrew Moppin-Buckskin (pictured left) at 47th Avenue and International Boulevard after he ran from his car following a traffic stop, police said. Moppin-Buckskin was not armed, but the officers believed he had been reaching for his waistband, police have said. Less than seven (7) months later, Officer Jimenez would kill again under the "reaching for his waist-band" defense.

Mack "Jody" Woodfox

On July 25, 2008, Officer Jimenez shot and killed Mack "Jody" Woodfox III (pictured left), age 27. Officer Jimenez said he believed Woodfox, a drunken-driving suspect, had been reaching into his waistband for a gun when he jumped from his car and ran after a chase that ended at East 17th Street and Fruitvale Avenue in the Fruitvale district. Woodfox , who was shot in the back, turned out not to have a gun.

Hector Jiminez, Patrick Gonzales, Jessica Borello and Capt. Ed Poulson are still members of the Oakland Police Department. Neither has been brought to justice, or even reprimanded for the deaths as set forth above.

Casper Banjo

Renowned artist, printmaker Casper Banjo, 71, murdered by Oakland police on March 14, 2008. Casper was 71 years old African American at the time of his shooting. He lived in section 8 housing in Oakland and was in poor health after a quadruple by pass operation last year.

The police claimed he was waving a handgun 'replica' therefore they were justified in killing him. They said they told him to put it on the ground. He refused.

Jerry Amaro III

There is “strong circumstantial evidence” that Oakland police covered up the 2000 beating of drug suspect Jerry Amaro III, who died a month after suffering broken ribs, according to confidential city documents obtained late Wednesday. The FBI is investigating Amaro’s death, and police last week suspended a senior officer, Capt. Edward Poulson, with pay as his role in the matter is probed. Poulson is suspected of kicking Amaro and then ordering subordinate officers to lie about it. Administrative charges against Poulson were sustained for interfering in an internal affairs investigation. Then-Chief Richard Word changed a recommendation to fire Poulson to a two-week suspension. Last year (2008), ex-Chief Wayne Tucker put Poulson in charge of Internal Affairs (he was promoted).

Jerrold Cornelius Hall

It was just before 8 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 15, 1992 when a 19 year old kid called "Glasstop" took a shotgun blast in the back of the head and died for the theft of a $60 radio. The lights were on in the parking lot outside the Hayward BART station, where a six-car southbound train had arrived a few minutes earlier. About 50 passengers had gotten off, and some were still straggling into cars or waiting around for the next AC Transit bus. "Glasstop," a warehouse worker from Union City whose legal name was Jerrold Cornelius Hall, had ridden the train from Bayfair, one stop north, along with John Henry Owens, a 20-year-old unemployed custodian who lived in Oakland. The two young African American men were standing at the bus stop, not far from the station entrance.

Shortly thereafter, B.A.R.T. Police Officer Fred Crabtree pulled into the parking lot in a BART police cruiser. Crabtree was a white 16-year veteran of the transit police agency and a member of its elite Canine Corps. His K-9 dog was a highly trained German shepherd imported from a special obedience school in Germany. The dog trotted at Crabtree's side as he approached Owens and Hall. The officer carried a loaded 12-gauge pump-action shotgun.

Crabtree was responding to a report of an armed robbery. Halfway between Bayfair and Hayward, a passenger had told the train operator that two black men had taken his Walkman personal stereo. The passenger said one of the robbers had a gun and described what they (the robbers) looked like. The train operator passed on the message, and the BART police dispatcher passed it on again (to Crabtree). Owens and Hall matched the third-hand description that came over Crabtree's radio.

Within a matter of minutes, Hall was lying in a pool of his own blood, Owens was in handcuffs, and the parking lot was a mass of sirens and flashing red lights. Hall was pronounced dead shortly after midnight at Eden Hospital. The police did not turn up a gun after a search of both men. The man who reported the robbery disappeared without leaving his name.

BART's own internal documents contradict the official claim that Hall was attacking or threatening Crabtree at the time of the shooting. Statements filed by several witnesses, and at least two BART police officers, suggest that Hall was more than 10 feet from the officer when the (two) shots were fired [at him], and was walking away. Medical records obtained by the Bay Guardian show that he was shot in the back of the head. Nevertheless, on Dec. 4, 1992 a BART Firearms Review Board, consisting entirely of BART police officers appointed by the chief, determined that the "use of lethal force in this instance was justified." BART officials refuse to release the report or comment further on the findings.

The Alameda County District Attorney at the time, John Meehan, refused to prosecute Officer Crabtree. The results of the FBI investigation of the shooting of Jerrold Hall in the back of the head by the Transit cop, Fred Crabtree, produced no results or disciplinary action against B.A.R.T., or Crabtree. B.A.R.T., took no disciplinary action against Office Crabtree.

Indianapolis, IN - A suspended Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer who already faced charges of selling a handgun to a felon was arrested Thursday on accusations that he beat a Hancock County man in April 2009. Jason Barber, 32, was held in the Hancock County Jail in Greenfield on felony battery charges, Sheriff's Department Maj. Joe Hunt said.

Deborah Edgerly

The nephew of former City Administrator Deborah Edgerly (pictured left) was sentenced Tuesday to a year of electronic monitoring and five years probation after pleading no contest to a felony weapon charge. William Lovan, who remains on the city payroll as a parking meter repairman, was arrested in June 2008 as part of the Oakland Police Department's crackdown on the notorious West Oakland Acorn gang. Last October, Lovan agreed to plead no contest to one felony weapon charge in exchange for a second felony weapon charge being dropped.

Alameda County Superior Court Judge Morris Jacobson handed down Lovan's (pictured left) sentence in an Oakland courtroom Tuesday morning. Jacobson could have forced Lovan to serve a year in the county jail, but instead agreed to let him serve that year under electronic monitoring and house arrest. Under terms of the sentencing, Lovan cannot own firearms. He can continue to work, but otherwise must remain at home. He is allowed a total daily commute time of two hours to get to his job in Oakland from his home in Antioch. Lovan also faces special gang-related restrictions, such as not affiliating with gang members and not wearing gang colors.

Edgerly was fired in 2008 as city administrator after assertions that she favored relatives for jobs in city government and that she tipped off Lovan about the Acorn investigation.Edgerly denied wrongdoing and never faced criminal charges. She filed a wrongful-termination lawsuit in July. City salary data show Lovan's budgeted salary was $56,680 this year.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office said its office believes Lovan tipped off members of the Acorn gang to police wiretaps. Lovan's attorney said Lovan is not a member of any gang, and hopes to continue working for the city.

Update: August 7, 2009

On Monday, July 6, 2009, fired Oakland City Administrator Deborah Edgerly has filed suit against her former bosses, claiming she was unfairly terminated after refusing to hand out patronage to Mayor Ron Dellums' supporters and pay some of his wife's bills with city money.

As we all know, Mayor Ron Dellums terminated Edgerly in July 2008 after instances of nepotism involving her surfaced, including the allegation that she had tipped her nephew, who also worked for the city, of an impending gang raid by the Oakland Police Department.

In the lawsuit, filed in Alameda County Superior Court, Edgerly says the mayor's wife and unpaid adviser, Cynthia Dellums, ordered her to put former Dellums campaign supporters on the city payroll and pay her cell phone bill with city money.

In May 2008, the suit alleges, Cynthia Dellums demanded Edgerly come up with city money to pay the couple's $1,600 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. bill.

Edgerly further alleges that City Attorney John Russo balked at her request that he pay the city back $4,200 in paycheck advances.

Russo said Tuesday, "I don't remember it that way at all. I was the one who offered the repayments when Edgerly said there was no problem." As for the rest of the allegations, Russo said, "We will answer all of them in court." The Mayor Ron Dellum's office declined to comment.

On the night of June 7, 2008 Oakland City Administrator Deborah Edgerly - whose duties included overseeing the Oakland Police Department (at an annual salary of $254,000.00) - showed up at a West Oakland liquor store just as her nephew's car was being towed by police as part of an operation against the Acorn gang. The nephew, 27-year-old William Lovan - who works for the city of Oakland as a parking meter repairman - had left the car running and locked the keys inside, along with a gun. Edgerly asked why the car was being towed and the police, in their fashion, said, "Because it's polluting the air."

(Edgerly said Lovan was her nephew and threatened police that she would begin internal affairs proceedings against them. Police towed the vehicle anyway and recovered a loaded firearm illegally in Lovan's possession.)

Edgerly pulled out her cell phone and dialed up Assistant Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan's number to complain. Jordan said he'd check it out and call her back. And he did a few minutes later, telling her that the towing job was part of a bigger Oakland police operation.

Operation Nutcracker - June 17, 2008 (The Raids)

Oakland police officials said they believe that a raid conducted by 400 officers from 17 different law enforcement agencies at 34 locations simultaneously Tuesday dismantled the worst gang the city had seen in many years. Lt. Ersie Joyner said he believes it will be "very difficult, if not impossible" for the Acorn drug gang to regain its former power in the wake of Tuesday's raids, which included the arrest of the gang's leader, 33-year-old Marc Anthony Chandler of Oakland, who is known as "Mac." He said that 54 people were arrested and 41 firearms were confiscated in what police called "Operation Nutcracker," which began three months ago and culminated in the raids.

Joyner said an "ongoing gang violence war" pitting the Acorn group against rival groups Ghost Town and the Lower Bottoms resulted in 37 homicides in West Oakland in the last three years. Joyner said the Acorn group is "the most violent gang we've seen in a long time" so Tuesday's arrests focused on Acorn instead of the other two gangs. He said the other gangs also are engaged in criminal activity, but to a lesser degree. Joyner said four of the suspects arrested Tuesday were involved in recent takeover robberies, including those at Milano Restaurant on Grand Avenue and the Red Boy pizza parlor on Leimert Boulevard. Joyner said those suspects "made an art out of robberies." He said there were many reasons why the Acorn gang was involved in an ongoing battle with the other two gangs, but he said "a dispute over a car and a girl culminated in 37 murders in the West Oakland area."

That might well have been the end of the story - except that according to our sources, police think Edgerly may have made a call to her nephew (William Lovan), warning him to stay away from these "bad people" because the authorities knew what they were up to. "Authorities say the gang was linked to several homicides and a series of restaurant takeover robberies as well as carjackings, drug and weapons trafficking".

"According to KTVU, police listened in on a phone call between Lovan and Acorn gang leader Marc Anthony C[h]andler a day or two later. Lovan reportedly told C[h]andler, "Get rid of all your mitts. I got this straight from the head." The call was a warning that the "mitts" (phones) were tapped. "Head" Edgerly knew about the wiretaps because as city administrator she would sign off on officer overtime to monitor wiretaps during Operation Nutcracker."

The Federal Bureau of Investigations

In a federal grand jury subpoena dated Aug. 6 and issued to the Oakland city attorney's office, federal authorities asked for "timesheets, leave slips for sick leave, vacation, executive management or any other type leaves and pay stubs" for Oakland's top nonelected official and the five others from January 2004 to the present. In addition to Edgerly, the subpoena names her daughter, Erin Breckenridge, a police trainee, and her son, Frank Breckenridge, a city computer technician. It also names Edgerly's nephew, William Lovan, a city parking-meter repairman who was among 50 suspects arrested two months ago after a lengthy police investigation of a violent West Oakland street gang. The feds also asked for payroll records for former Assistant City Administrator Cheryl Thompson and her son, Damani Thompson, who works in the city's Finance Department. The subpoena, signed by the clerk of the U.S. District Court for Northern California, told city officials they could provide the information to FBI agents "in lieu of an appearance before the Grand Jury." A Look Back!

January 1, 2010

The end of the year is a time for reflection. Another 365 days gone by, another eventful year of crime and corruption by government officials and their financial overseers. With 2009 drawing to a close, it's time to take a look back at the year that was filled with repugnant conduct that "shocks the conscience" of law & order, civility and decency. We look back on the past twelve months to see what we lost or gained by this repugnant conduct. End of the year, or end of the decade as it is this year, is usually the time when everyone is looking back at what happened in the year but also a time where many are looking forward to what is going to happen in the future. If 2009 is any indication of our future, ... serious problems lie ahead of us.

Worst of the Worst!

Bernard Madoff!

Number One: Worst Thief in the History of Mankind!

The 71-year-old Jew, Bernard Madoff (pictured left) returned Monday (12/28/09) to the medium security (Jew Madoff should be in maximum security - Leavensworth Prison to be exact) section of the Butner Federal Correctional Complex in North Carolina, spokeswoman Denise Simmons of the Federal Bureau of Prisons said on Wednesday. Simmons declined to discuss Jew Madoff's current health. She said he was admitted to the hospital at the prison on December 18, 2009 and treated for hypertension. Jew Madoff is serving a 150-year sentence after admitting to cheating thousands of investors in what prosecutors have called a $65 billion Ponzi scheme.

Scott Rothstein!

Number Two: 2nd Worst Thief in the History of Mankind!

Jew Scott Rothstein (pictured left) who is accused of running a $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme tied to nonexistent settlements through law firm bank accounts, has been jailed since Dec. 1, 2009. Scott Rothstein’s office furniture inside the office of Rothstein Rosenfeldt & Adler, will be sold to the highest bidder at an auction on Jan. 23, 2010 in Tamarac, Fla. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Raymond B. Ray approved a request last week by the firm’s bankruptcy trustee to allow Fisher Auction to sell everything inside the office, including oriental rugs and some personal effects. The proceeds from the auction will be added to the bankruptcy estate and be used to compensate victims of the alleged fraud.

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)!

Number Three: Most Corrupt Politician of the Decade!

Dianne Goldman Berman Feinstein (pictured left, at podium)(born June 22, 1933) is a JEW U.S. Senator from California and a member of the Democratic Party. Jew Feinstein was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992, after serving as Mayor of San Francisco from 1978 to 1988. Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Jew Feinstein presided over Barack Obama U.S. presidential inauguration. Jew Feinstein attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart High School and was given a Catholic religious education, but also attended Hebrew school and was confirmed in the Jewish faith at the age of thirteen, having said that she has "always considered [herself] Jewish".

In 1980, she married JEW Richard C. Blum, an investment banker. In 2003, Feinstein was ranked the fifth-wealthiest senator, with an estimated net worth of $26 million. By 2005 her net worth had increased to between $43 million and $99 million. In 1992, she was fined $190,000 for failure to properly report campaign contributions and expenditures associated with that campaign.

Jew Feinstein supported the Iraq war resolution in the vote of October 11, 2002; she has claimed that she was misled by President George W. Bush on the reasons for going to war. However, former UN Weapons Inspector in Iraq Scott Ritter has stated that Jew Feinstein in summer 2002 acknowledged to him that she knew the Bush administration had not provided any convincing intelligence to back up its claims about the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. The Center for Public Integrity has also reported that Jew Senator Feinstein and her husband, Jew Blum, are making millions of dollars from Iraq and Afghanistan contracts through his company, Perini. Jew Feinstein voted for the resolution giving President George W. Bush the authority to invade Iraq.

Aaron Biber!

Number Four: Most Repugnant Attorney of the Decade!

Prominent Minnesota Jew attorney Aaron Biber (pictured left) a former Hennepin County Bar Association president and the treasurer of the Minnesota State Bar Association, was charged Monday with two counts of criminal sexual conduct involving alleged sexual relations with a 15-year-old boy. Biber is a principal at Minneapolis law firm Gray Plant Mooty. A criminal complaint filed in mid-December 2009 by the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office alleges that last October Jew Biber gave liquor to and had a sexual encounter with the boy at Biber’s Shorewood home. According to the complaint, Jew Biber, 46, has known the boy for four years. Jew Biber is also accused of sending highly graphic and sexual text messages to the boy after the alleged encounter. "This is a tragic and grossly innappropriate situation," said Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman at a Dec. 14, 2009 press conference on the charges.

The alleged sexual conduct was reported to the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department by a confidential source within the last two weeks. The police taped a phone call between Biber and the boy on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009. During the call, Jew Biber allegedly arranged to meet the boy at the Eden Prairie Mall to perform a sex act. He was arrested en route to the meeting. Freeman said evidence supports Jew Biber made additional sexual solicitations to the boy.

Number Five: 2nd Most Repugnant Prosecutor of the Decade!

Michael Gressett, 52, the former veteran prosecutor in the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office Sex Crimes Unit(pictured left, tan suit - right side profile) arrested in Oct. 2008 for allegedly raping a colleague five months earlier, now faces an additional felony charge after a criminal grand jury indicted him on 13 counts of rape, sodomy and sexual assault in late November 2009.

The indictment replaces the 12 counts leveled against Gressett by the California Attorney General’s Office, which had assumed prosecution of the case due to Gressett’s employment by the County D.A. The charges, which were filed in Martinez, include two counts rape, four counts sodomy, three counts forced sexual penetration, one count forced oral copulation, one count false imprisonment and one count of making criminal threats for allegedly threatening to kill the alleged victim, according to the complaint. Gressett, 51, also faces multiple enhancements for allegedly tying up the alleged victim and using a handgun and an ice pick during the alleged assault. If convicted, Gressett could face a life sentence, Deputy Attorney General Peter Flores said. Because Gressett is a county prosecutor, the state attorney general’s office was prosecuting the case.

Number Six: Most Corrupt Prosecutor of the Decade!

NEWARK, N.J. — A former Jew federal prosecutor (pictured left) and prominent New Jersey defense attorney whose past clients have included Queen Latifah and Lil' Kim has pleaded not guilty to bribery, drug and prostitution charges. Jew Paul Bergrin of Morganville appeared Monday in U.S. District Court in Newark. He's been held since his arrest in May for arranging the murder of one witness and trying to set up the murder of another. The government could pursue the death penalty against Jew Bergrin for the murder counts. Federal prosecutors say Jew Bergrin used threats, bribes and even murder to discourage witnesses from testifying. They allege that Jew Bergrin passed the name of an informant to associates of a client in a drug case. The informant was shot to death in Newark in 2004.

Kenneth Moreno is a seventeen-year veteran of the NYPD and is a married father of two. Moreno and his fellow officer Franklin Mata have been accused in an alleged December 7, 2008, rape of a New York City woman. Moreno and Mata were arraigned on April 28, 2009, on charges of rape, burglary and official misconduct. On May 3, 2009, the media reported that on the night of the rape, Moreno and Matta used a pay phone to make a fake 911 call, giving them an excuse to return to the victim's apartment.

On December 7, 2008, a cab driver contacted the police about a drunk woman that had vomited in his cab in the East Village and needed help up to her apartment. Officers Moreno and Mata (Mata pictured far left, Moreno pictured left) arrived at the scene at 1:10 a.m. According to time stamps on a video surveillance camera, the officers can be seen helping an intoxicated woman up to her apartment, then they left seven minutes later but 39 minutes later, at 1:59 a.m they returned again. The second time they returned, the officers followed a resident with a key into the building the second time. Shortly after entering the building one of the officers noticed the surveillance camera. The partners remained in building for 17 minutes. At 2:59 a.m. the officers return once again, this time with a key and they attempt to hide their faces from the surveillance by keeping their backs to the camera.

The morning after the alleged assault, the woman who was attacked told her friends that she had been raped the night before by a police officer. Heather Millstone, the bar owner who caught the police movements on her video surveillance camera, gave copies to the victim. Millstone turned the video tapes over to the district attorney's office. Through his lawyer, Franklin L. Mata later claimed Moreno had sex with the alleged victim, but Mata says that it was consensual. Since the woman in question was intoxicated and incapacitated, as demonstrated on the video, she would not have been legally able to give her consent.

Patrick Gonzales!

Number Nine: Most Murderous Cop of the Decade!

Gary King, Jr. (pictured below, center) was murdered on September 20th, 2007 by Sergeant Pat Gonzales of the Oakland Police Department. According to eyewitnesses, after having complied with an order to approach Gonzales' cruiser, Gary was attacked by Gonzales. Gary attempted to disengage himself from the altercation, but Gonzales beat, stripped, and repeatedly tasered Gary. Gonzales then released Gary, disoriented, hurting, and scared, and pumped two bullets into Gary's back as he fled. Police claim that a pistol was found in Gary's possession. None of the witnesses saw Gary draw a pistol. Gonzales was the only police officer on the scene until after he shot Gary and no witnesses are corroborating his story.

King’s death is not an isolated incident: in 2006, Gonzales (is pictured left; help us identify which one is Gonzales) shot and paralyzed 17-year-old Ameir Rollins, and in 2002, Gonzales shot and killed 19-year-old Joshua Russell. Police Chief Tucker acknowledged the abnormality of an officer shooting so many suspects, but isn't questioning Gonzales' claim, universally refuted by witnesses, that Gary was drawing a weapon. OPD wants to protect their own. Gonzales has a wife and a 2-week-old baby.

Sgt. Patrick Gonzales has shot four people, killing three of them. Gonzales is extremely murderous towards black (African-American) men. Above is a picture of the Oakland (2009) SWAT Team. Help us identify Gonzales. It will aid black men in avoiding him!

Judge Michael Hecht!

Number Ten: Most repugnant judge of the Decade!

TACOMA — A jury found Pierce County Superior Court (Jew) Judge Michael Hecht (pictured left) guilty of felony harassment and patronizing a prostitute. Jew Hecht had been accused of paying one man for sex multiple times in 2008 and 2009 and threatening to kill another man who talked about having sex with him. The 59-year-old was elected to the Pierce County bench in August 2008 and sworn into office on Jan. 12, 2009, the day after The News Tribune newspaper reported that police were investigating Jew Hecht. He also faces charges brought by the state's Commission on Judicial Conduct. A hearing on those charges is set for February 2010.

Jew David Bernard Flinn!

Number Eleven: Most racist judge of the Decade!

Jew Judge David B. Flinn (pictured left) is an ardent, vicious white racist. He despises African-American males. Judge Flinn is rude, hostile, belligerent and obnoxious towards African-Americans, particularly males. Jew Flinn is thoroughly ingratiated with the UC Regents (a Jew entity). He attended UC Berkeley as an undergraduate and attended UC Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law.

Born: Nov. 1, 1938 (and currently suffers senile dementia);
Appointed: Feb. 28, 1997, by Governor (White Racist) Pete Wilson;
Previous work of note: Private practice, 1968-97; Senior counsel, Bank of America, 1963-68; and
Law degree: Boalt Hall School of Law (1963) (The Regents).

Flinn's Jew Law firm: The San Francisco law firm of Leland, Parachini, Steinberg, Matzger & Melnick LLP, originally known as Cerf, Robinson & Leland, Flinn's Jew firm was founded by Marcel E. Cerf, a prominent California jurist who began practice in 1900. In 1980, it merged with the firm of Matzger & Melnick to become Leland, Parachini, Steinberg, Flinn, Matzger and Melnick. The Jew firm adopted its current name in 1997 when David B. Flinn was appointed as judge to the Contra Costa Superior Court.

Judge Kenneth Kingsbury!

Number Twelve: 2nd Most racist judge of the Decade!

Kingsbury (pictured left) was previously employed in the Alameda County district attorney's office, where he became head of the narcotics unit. "Very short story on Nepotism in the Alameda County Courts: The Alameda County courts, particularly the District Attorney's office, is Nepotism central for the county." A quick check of Deputy DA's revealed current Alameda County District Attorney Tom Orloff has hired the sons or daughters of three of possibly four judges who are on the Alameda County Superior Court, criminal calendar. The judges and kids involved are; Judge Kenneth Kingsbury and Erin Kingsbury. Erin is his second daughter. (Erin is now a deputy DA in Fremont.)

This guy takes the cake for the decade. He spent his entire legal career incarcerating poor minorities (90% Black) from the Alameda County Urban environments, yet he uses the same authority, during the same legal career, to ensure that his daughter (Erin Kingsbury) became employed as a Deputy District Attorney, in the same office where he once served as supervisor. C.J. Note: Good Job Kenneth! His former crony, Stuart Hing is now a Judge in the County of Alameda.

Number Thirteen: Uncle Tom/Aunt Jemima judge(s) of the Decade!

We saw the 90's end with the year 2000 (A New Millineum) and Clarence Thomas and Ward connerly tied for Uncle Toms of the Decade. Ten years later, we conclude another decade with three judges tied for Uncle Tom/Aunt Jemima(s) of the decade.

"Janice Rogers Brown (pictured above, center) has a record of hostility to fundamental civil and constitutional rights principles, and she is committed to using her power as a judge to twist the law in ways that undermine those principles[.] For the administration to bring forward a nominee with this record and hope to get some kind of credit because she is the first African American woman nominated to the DC Circuit is one more sign of the administration's political cynicism."

"Martin Jenkins, who was appointed U.S. District Judge in San Francisco by President Clinton in 1997, "applied for an opening on the California State Court of Appeal bench. Jenkins, who submitted his application to Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, was appointed and confirmed to the California Court of Appeals on April 4, 2008."

According to a report, "Justice Brown's opinions on civil rights law are perhaps the most troubling area of a very troubling body of work. These opinions reveal significant skepticism about the existence and impact of discrimination and demonstrate repeated efforts to limit the avenues available to victims of discrimination to obtain justice. Brown's opinions in this area reveal a troubling disregard for precedent and stare decisis – even in the context of case law that has been settled by the U.S. Supreme Court." The report examines Brown opinions in cases involving racial discrimination, discrimination against people with disabilities and older Americans, and affirmative action. California's Chief Justice criticized one of her opinions as arguing that "numerous decisions of the United States Supreme Court and this court" were "wrongly decided" and as representing a "serious distortion of history."

C.J. Note: In the California Opinion on Affirmative Action, Justice Brown (with a majority of the court) upheld Ward Connerly's Proposition 209, abolishing Affirmative Action for African-Americans, but maintaining Affirmative Action for European-American Women!

Superior Court Judge E. Curtissa Cofield, 60 (pictured above, far right) was originally appointed in 1991 as the state's first black female judge after Gov. Lowell P. Weicker Jr. nominated her and legislators confirmed her. She was last renominated by Gov. M. Jodi Rell and approved by lawmakers in 2007. Her current term expires on June 6, 2015. About 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2008, Cofield was driving through a highway construction zone on Route 2 in Glastonbury when her car sideswiped a parked state police cruiser occupied by Trooper Michael Kowal. Prosecutor John Whalen said that the judge's eyes were bloodshot and that she smelled of alcohol. Urine samples showed her blood alcohol content was 0.16 percent at 1 a.m. on Oct. 10, 2008 and 0.17 percent at 2:04 a.m., he said — twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Repeatedly using vulgar and racial insults, Cofield argued with a police officer — addressing him as "Negro trooper" at one point — who was trying to process her on a charge of drunken driving in Glastonbury last October, a police video released shows. Cofield also is heard twice on the video using the racial term "nigger." The state's Judicial Review Council released the video after it found cause to pursue five judicial misconduct charges against her, several of them based on what was termed disparaging, demeaning or "racially inappropriate" language.

Nepotism: Nepotism and Cronyism permeates the Superior Court of California, County of Contra Costa. On February 9, 2006, Judge Thomas Maddock appointed Mary Ann O’Malley as judge the judge to hear for the entire Dyleski court proceedings. TACOMA — A jury has found Pierce County Superior Court Judge Michael Hecht guilty of felony harassment and patronizing a prostitute. Hecht had been accused of paying one man for sex multiple times in 2008 and 2009 and threatening to kill another man who talked about having sex with him. The 59-year-old was elected to the Pierce County bench in August 2008 and sworn into office in January, the day after The News Tribune newspaper reported that police were investigating Hecht.

Hecht has denied the allegations and testified that he was just trying to help people.

He also faces charges brought by the state's Commission on Judicial Conduct. A hearing on those charges is set for February 2010.

TACOMA, Wash. — A Pierce County Superior Court judge was charged Friday with felony harassment and a misdemeanor count of patronizing a prostitute. The state attorney general's office alleges that Michael Hecht threatened to kill a prostitute on Aug. 30 of 2008, shortly after Hecht was elected to the bench but before he was sworn in, the News Tribune of Tacoma reported.

According to court papers, the male prostitute told Tacoma police that Hecht had paid him for sex in the past. In the second charge, prosecutors allege Hecht paid a different prostitute to engage in sex.

"Judge Hecht denies both allegations," Hecht's attorney, Wayne Fricke, told the Associated Press. "This is going to trial before a jury," the lawyer added. "We're confident they're going to make the right decision and exonerate him." Fricke said Hecht has been hearing civil cases since he was sworn in Jan. 12, 2009 and he anticipated that the judge would continue doing so.

Reiko Callner, executive director of the state Commission on Judicial Conduct, said by state law she could not say whether a judge is being investigated. Generally speaking, she said, a judge who faces criminal charges may be violating the code of judicial conduct. The commission could issue a warning, a reprimand or a censure, which could include a recommendation to the state Supreme Court that a judge be removed or suspended.

Hecht was newly elected to the bench on Aug. 19, 2008 beating out Judge Sergio Armijo.

Judge Michael Hecht pleaded not guilty to charges of harassment and patronizing a prostitute, then went on paid leave pending resolution of the case.

Judge Michael Hecht was released without bail by Judge James Cayce, of King County, who was brought in to hear the case brought by the state Attorney General's Office, The News Tribune reported.

In the felony harassment charge, Hecht, 58, is accused of threatening to kill a 24-year-old man on Aug. 30, shortly after Hecht was elected. The man says Hecht paid him for sex several years ago.

In the misdemeanor charge, the judge is accused of paying a 20-year-old man for sex on numerous occasions between last summer and January.

HOUSTON - A disgraced federal judge in Texas has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for lying about whether he sexually abused his secretary.U.S. District Judge Samuel Kent (pictured left) was sentenced to 33 months Monday. He also was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $6,550 in restitution to the two women whose complaints resulted in the first sex abuse case against a sitting federal judge.

Kent could have received up to 20 years in prison after admitting to obstruction of justice, but prosecutors said they wouldn't seek more than three years under a plea agreement.

Federal judge, Samuel Kent pleaded guilty Monday to lying to investigators about sexually abusing his secretary in exchange for prosecutors dropping five sex-crime charges alleging he groped two women. U.S. District Judge Samuel Kent also retired Monday, effective immediately, possibly avoiding impeachment by Congress. Kent's guilty plea to an obstruction of justice charge came as jury selection in his trial was set to begin. According to the plea agreement, prosecutors will seek no more than three years in prison for Kent when he is sentenced on May 11. Obstruction, a felony, carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The jurist, who once shouted in court that he would bring "hordes of witnesses" in his defense, spoke barely above a whisper as he pleaded guilty to lying to a judicial committee investigating the sex-related charges.

Kent had vigorously maintained his innocence. His attorney, Dick DeGuerin had said the judge's conduct with the two women was mutual and consensual. Prosecutors had said they would present evidence showing there was nothing consensual about what Kent did with the two women, Cathy McBroom, his former case manager, and Donna Wilkerson, the judge's current secretary.

Corrupt Justice does not normally name alleged victims of sexual abuse, but McBroom's attorney and her family have used her name in publicly discussing the case. Wilkerson appeared outside the federal courthouse with her lawyer, who used her name to reporters. Both women were in the courtroom as Kent entered his guilty plea.

A trial would have been embarrassing and difficult for all involved. Kent, 59, (appointed by President George H.W. Bush) had been facing six charges involving two women - five related to federal sex crimes and the obstruction charge. Kent was the first federal judge charged with a sex crime and would have been one of only a handful to be tried. He told the presiding judge that he was taking medication for depression and anxiety as well as diabetes and was under the care of both a psychiatrist and a psychologist. If he had been convicted of the most serious federal sex crimes charges against him, Kent could have received a sentence of up to life in prison.

Authorities first investigated Kent after McBroom filed a complaint against him in May 2007 and the Judicial Council of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals began a probe. McBroom accused Kent of harassing her over a four-year period, culminating in March 2007, when she said the judge pulled up her blouse and bra and tried to escalate contact until they were interrupted.

The judicial council suspended Kent in September 2007 for four months with pay but didn't detail the allegations against him. It also transferred him to Houston, 50 miles northwest of Galveston, where he had worked since being appointed in 1990. A Justice Department investigation of McBroom's claims led to Kent's indictment in August on three federal sex charges. Last month, prosecutors added two more sex charges and the obstruction charge, accusing Kent of trying to engage his secretary in a sex act and then lying about it to the judicial council. DeGuerin had said Kent and his secretary were involved in a longtime affair and he didn't reveal it to the judicial council because he was being a "gentleman."

Herman Thomas

Mobile County Circuit Judge Herman Thomas (pictured left) periodically removed prisoners from Mobile County Metro Jail and spanked them in a room at the courthouse, according to allegations made public by courthouse sources. Once inside the room, according to the sources, the judge would ask the young men to drop their pants and prepare to be spanked with what they described as a wooden or fraternity-like paddle. When contacted by telephone by media sources and asked about the alleged spanking episodes, Thomas simply said, "This is news to me. I don't have any comment."

According to sources, between a half-dozen and a dozen young men have shared their accounts with officials. Media sources could not determine whether any of the young men knew each other or knew of the others' allegations. At least one young man has alleged that as a prelude to the paddling, Thomas told him that if he had been spanked when he was a child, he would not have found himself in jail later, according to one of the newspaper's sources. Investigating officials were able to reconcile jail logs noting when Thomas removed the young men from Metro Jail and when he returned them to custody later, sources said.

Not all of the young men making the allegations were in jail when they had their encounters with Thomas, according to the sources. At least one of Thomas' accusers told authorities he was out of Metro Jail when the judge summoned him to the courthouse on a Sunday night. In August 2007, according to sources, a room matching descriptions provided by some of the young men was located just off a corridor that leads to the jury room connected to Thomas' courtroom.

Thomas, who has been suspended from the bench since March 2007, sent a two sentence resignation letter to Alabama Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb saying, "I have decided to retire and vacate the office of Circuit Judge." A spokesperson for the Administrative Office of the Courts tells News Five Thomas does not have enough years of service to retire, so the Chief Justice accepted his letter as a resignation. He will not receive any retirement pension from the courts.

Circuit Judge Joseph "Rusty" Johnston has barred former judicial colleague Herman Thomas from practicing in his courtroom. Citing allegations that Thomas submitted jail inmates to sexual advances after checking them out under his authority, Johnston said Thomas was unfit to practice law.

BRISTOW, Okla. (Aug. 8, 2006) - Former Oklahoma judge Donald Thompson (pictured left) was sent to prison for four years Friday for exposing himself by using a sexual device while presiding over jury trials. Special Judge C. Allen McCall also ordered that Thompson, 59, pay a $40,000 fine. Thompson was convicted on June 29, 2006 on four felony counts of indecent exposure for incidents that took place in his court room in Creek County.

McCall denied motions by Thompson's attorneys to either suspend the sentence or to let Thompson serve prison time on the four counts concurrently, which would have meant Thompson would serve only one year of prison time. "This is not just a one-time incident, this is a continuing series of offenses," McCall said during the sentencing hearing. McCall, who usually sits on the bench in Comanche County, said he did not believe the accusations against Thompson were fabricated, as Thompson had claimed.

"People who are out to get a judge find an opponent. They don't concoct a story, especially one this bizarre," McCall said.

Thompson showed no reaction when he was sentenced. McCall denied a defense motion that Thompson be allowed to remain free pending an appeal, despite assurances from Thompson's wife, Paula, and older brother, Jim Thompson of Bristow, that Donald Thompson was not a flight threat. Jim Thompson said his brother was "someone you're proud to walk down the street with."

Thompson served as a state legislator and spent almost 23 years on the bench before he retired in 2004. His former court reporter, Lisa Foster, testified at his trial that she saw Thompson expose himself during trials at least 15 times between 2001 and 2003. Prosecutors said he used a device known as a penis pump during four trials between 2002 and 2003. Thompson, a married father of three grown children, testified that the penis pump was given to him as a joke by a longtime hunting and fishing buddy. "It wasn't something I was hiding," he said. He said he may have absentmindedly squeezed the pump's handle during court cases but never used it to masturbate.

Foster told authorities that she saw Thompson use the device (pictured left) almost daily during the August 2003 murder trial of a man accused of shaking a toddler to death. A whooshing sound could be heard on Foster's audiotape of the trial. When jurors asked the judge about the sound, Thompson said he hadn't heard it but would listen for it.

Police built a case against the judge after a police officer testifying in a 2003 murder trial saw a piece of plastic tubing disappear under Thompson's robe. During a lunch break, officers took photographs of the pump under the desk. Investigators later checked the carpet, Thompson's robes and the chair behind the bench and found semen, according to court records.

Prosecutor Richard Smothermon said McCall handed down a proper sentence. "I thought the judge did the right thing," Smothermon said. "He treated this defendant the same as every other defendant in Oklahoma. "Any sex crime is a serious crime. People with sexual deviances are a danger to society."

Defense attorney Clark Brewster said there were grounds for appeal. "There was repeated, persistent error throughout the trial," he said. He said Thompson should have been freed pending appeal. "If this guy is denied bail, then who ever gets bail?" he asked.

Brewster said he'll ask the state Court of Criminal Appeals early next week to overturn McCall's decision not to allow Thompson to remain free during the appeals process. Thompson's attorneys have 10 days to file notice of an appeal of the verdict with that court and 30 days to file the actual appeal.

The office of state Attorney General Drew Edmondson would handle any appeal, said Smothermon, the district attorney for Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties, who was specially appointed to prosecute the case.

A presentencing report prepared by Carmelia Brossett, a senior probation officer for the state Department of Corrections, said Thompson refused to undergo psychosexual testing and that "Thompson's denial of the offense would likely present difficulty, if not inability for treatment providers to provide meaningful and beneficial sex-offender treatment."

Brossett recommended Thompson (pictured left) serve a prison term of an unspecified length. The jury that convicted Thompson recommended that he sentenced to a year in jail for each of the four felonies. In the presentencing report, Foster said that in her 15 years of working with Thompson, she could not recall him ever changing a jury's verdict.

"He voiced to me on more than one occasion that 12 people's opinions were better than one," she said in the report. "He always sentenced in accordance with the jury's verdict. I believe he should be held to his own standard. I believe that this jury wanted Don Thompson to serve four years in the state penitentiary, and I agree."

^Update December 4, 2008 - Donald Thompson was released from prison in April [2008]. On early December 4, 2008 he was arrested in Tulsa County on a complaint of driving under the influence. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol arrested 62-year-old Donald Thompson, who served a 20-month prison term after being convicted of four counts of indecent exposure.

The case against Thompson, a judge for 22 years, claimed that he exposed himself by using a penis pump to masturbate during four trials between 2001 and 2003. Ultimately he was sentenced to serve four consecutive one-year terms, along with being fined $40,000. He began serving his prison term on Aug. 18, 2006, the same day he was formally sentenced. Thompson was released early, on April 29, 2008 as the result of good-behavior credits normally given by the Department of Corrections. He was forced to register as a sex offender after the convictions and was disbarred by the Oklahoma Supreme Court in September.

Berkeley Police Chief Daschel Butler to BART Police Chief!

BART has named former Berkeley Police Chief Daschel Butler as the transit system's acting police chief during a search for a replacement for Gary Gee, who retires today as chief. Butler, 60, a police consultant, served 31 years in the Berkeley police department. He was chief there between 1990 and May 2002.

BART General Manager Dorothy Dugger announced Tuesday that Butler will begin his duties at BART in mid-January. Until he arrives Maria White, a BART police commander, will serve as acting chief. Gee came under sharp criticism after a transit police officer fatally shot Oscar Grant, an unarmed passenger, on New Year's Eve a year ago.

"The lingering protests and scattered nighttime violence downtown this week surprised a lot of people, as if the bold response seemed out of sync with the shooting. But even though the victim was from Hayward, and the incident took place on BART property and involved BART police, the story line for many has moved on — to Oakland."

On January 1, 2009, B.A.R.T Police Officer Johannes Mehserle, without visible provocation, shot and killed Oscar Grant, 22 of Hayward (See video below and on sidebar.). The officer remains free and has not been charged with any wrongdoing. [B.A.R.T.] Transit police officer Johannes Mehserle was initially placed on paid leave. He resigned from the BART police force Wednesday [January 7, 2009], but officials say he has refused to speak with the transit agency's investigators. He has not spoken publicly about the incident.

Videos shot by onlookers show Grant being pushed onto his stomach shortly before Mehserle fired his gun at Grant's back. The bullet ricocheted off pavement and pierced his lung, killing him. The video footage has led to debate over whether the officer knowingly shot Grant, as the victim's family alleges.

The Rioting

Extra police were posted Thursday at Bay Area Rapid Transit stations after a group of angry demonstrators smashed storefronts late Wednesday, set fire to cars and clashed with officers equipped with riot gear and tear gas in downtown Oakland. More than 100 people were arrested and about 300 businesses were damaged.

"In grainy cell-phone videos played over and over on the Internet, police officers force an unarmed black man to the ground and hold him face-down on a crowded train platform. Suddenly one of the officers draws his gun and fatally shoots the man in the back — then looks up. Some experts have questioned whether he fired his gun deliberately or mistakenly believed he was using his stun gun instead."

"[G]eorge Kirkham, a professor of criminology at the Florida State University who also viewed the footage, said he finds that hard to believe because most Taser stun guns do not look or feel like pistols, and the officer fired in a manner consistent with a handgun, not a Taser.

Kirkham, who works as an expert witness in criminal cases, speculated the officer fired because he thought he saw something in Grant's waistband or pocket that appeared to be a gun or other type of weapon.

"It's not believable that any officer can mix up a Taser and a firearm," said Kirkham, who has examined almost 500 police shootings over the past 30 years. "It's like looking for your steering wheel on the right side of your car rather than the left side.""

A school bus driver convicted of molesting and taking pornographic photos of young girls has been sentenced to 151 years to life in prison. Orange County prosecutors say Buena Park resident Terry Lee Shields (pictured left) was convicted of 15 felonies earlier this month, including kidnapping and forcible lewd acts on a minor. Shields molested the girls, had them pose for graphic photos, and was later caught looking at child pornography at Bellflower cyber cafe.

The 55-year-old's victims were 5, 7 and 11 years old, and two of them were abused over a period of three years. In a plea for harsh sentencing, the mother of the 5-year-old said at Thursday's hearing that her daughter is mentally disabled and the full extent of her injury may never be known.

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Dr. Earl Bradley (pictured left) a pediatrician is charged with sexually abusing his child patients. State Prosecutors say it is likely the pediatrician attacked more than 100 children at an office he had decked out with a merry-go-round and a ferris wheel. According to a deputy attorney general assigned to Delaware's Child Predator Task Force, the volume of evidence seized from the doctor's practice and home, including graphic video tapes and computer files, makes it difficult to estimate the exact number of victims. "I'm comfortable in saying probably well over 100 potential victims," the same official said at a news conference with Attorney General Beau Biden state officials. "As of this moment, we have not identified all of the victims in this case, and the investigation is ongoing in an aggressive fashion," Biden said. The media, on Tuesday, cited a detective's sworn statement that said evaluation of seized video files and software has discovered 15 more unidentified victims.

Police say Bradley used video cameras to record some of the attacks. An 18-page document detailed the alleged attacks in exam rooms, which had Disney themes such as Pinocchio, at BayBees Pediatrics, Bradley's solo practice. A detective who viewed the assaults described in court papers the 6-foot, 225-pound Bradley as having a "violently enraged expression on his face" in one video involving a 2-year-old.

The criminal investigation is focusing on cases between 1998 and the present. Bradley, 56, was arrested last week and is being held in prison on $2.9 million bond. He has been charged with 33 felony counts relating to seven victims. The alleged crimes cited in court papers happened between August and December 2009. Police said they learned of the alleged abuse when a 2-year-old girl told her mother that the doctor had hurt her during a Dec. 7, 2009 appointment.

The case is even more chilling because some alleged victims are no more than 6 months old. "It's horrific," said Wallace Hudson, vice president of Beebe Medical Center just blocks from Bradley's home. Bradley had privileges at the hospital which were immediately suspended when he was arrested. Pennsylvania's state board of medicine also announced an immediate temporary suspension of Bradley's license there. Hudson said Bradley had been in the area since 1994. He said the hospital has arranged for counseling for patients and their parents. He also said doctors who already have full practices have arranged to take Bradley's patients, who he estimated "runs in the thousands." Bradley also had medical licenses in Florida and New Jersey. "We are looking into that at this time," authorities said.

Bradley's office was known for its many toys and the rides he had in front. On Wednesday, the deserted office looked more like a small run-down carnival than a pediatric office, including a small merry-go-round and Ferris wheel. A pink sign in front of one building read: "Princess Parking only. All Others will be toad."

Mike Duckworth, treasurer of the Bethel United Methodist Church near Bradley's home, said the charges have brought "a lot of shock" in the neighborhood and to the parents of children in the church's preschool program. "There was a time when Dr. Bradley was the new and exciting pediatrician in town," Duckworth said. Duckworth said his granddaughter had two appointments with Bradley, but his daughter decided to get a new doctor about four years ago after Bradley asked to see the girl alone. "There was a point in the examination when he wanted to take my granddaughter away and my daughter wouldn't let him do that," Duckworth said.

A preliminary hearing Wednesday was postponed until Jan. 14, 2009. His attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment. A deputy attorney general, said Bradley was not brought to the courthouse for Wednesday's hearing because corrections officials are "concerned about his mental state right now," adding that there were concerns the doctor was suicidal.

The L.A. Unified has continually failed to follow up on complaints against teachers who are accused of sexual abuse against students. Prosecutors rarely try extremely difficult molestation cases because they often depend heavily on the accounts of young, frightened and shame-filled victims. Once police drop charges, or prosecutors refuse to prosecute criminal actions against these teachers, L.A. Unified accepts the accused teacher back, leaving students vulnerable to molesters. Recently, three girls testified in a successful civil lawsuit against the Los Angeles Unified School district that teacher's aide Ricardo Guevara molested them. One 13-year-old on the witness stand looked to be an ordinary adolescent, her diffident smile unveiling a set of braces. Her attorney began gently, with questions about her favorite band and trips to the mall. Then he brought up "Mr. Ricardo" and second grade. The girl buried her face in her hands and sobbed.

When her mother took the stand, she testified that the girl had not been the same since the day the teacher's aide put his hands on her. "I just believe this whole thing changed her life," the mother said. "I don't see her so confident around people. . . . I believe she has no interests." A jury late last year ordered the Los Angeles Unified School District to pay nearly $1.6 million to the families of three girls molested by Ricardo Guevara, who is now serving 15 years in prison for lewd acts with a child.

But there was something the jury -- and the public -- was never told: This was the third set of accusations that Guevara had molested students. Twice before, when law enforcement officials refused to prosecute, L.A. Unified officials had quietly put him back in the classroom. Guevara's case fits a pattern, an investigation shows: Repeatedly, the district failed to follow up on sexual misconduct complaints against employees once police or prosecutors dropped criminal actions. Some ended up at new schools. In at least one instance -- involving Guevara -- the new principal had no idea of his history.

Teachers point out that students at times fabricate sexual abuse allegations. But instructors are entitled to due process, including administrative and court hearings if necessary. However, in three separate cases documented by the investigation, each of the three L.A. Unified District teachers previously accused of sex abuse, but retained as an employee, went on to be charged with or convicted of molesting a different student, other than the one who previously complained. For example:

* A L.A. Unified elementary school teacher was investigated for allegedly molesting a fourth-grader in 2001. After prosecutors declined to pursue the case, he was transferred to other schools and eventually molested a student in 2004. Convicted of a lewd act, he was sentenced to six years in prison.

* Another L.A. Unified elementary school teacher was accused in 2002 of repeatedly forcing a female student to sit on his lap and pose for a camera. Police recommended that the district pursue the issue "administratively." School leaders handled the matter by telling him to stop. The teacher later pleaded no contest to sexual abuse of a child and received 16 years in prison.

* Steve Thomas Rooney, an assistant principal at Markham Middle School in Watts, was arrested last year on suspicion of sexually assaulting a student, sparking public outrage and calls for reform. In 2007, prosecutors had declined to prosecute Rooney for allegedly waving a gun at the stepfather of a student with whom he was suspected of having had a sexual relationship.

Nothing prevents L.A. Unified from looking further into cases that police or prosecutors decline to pursue. Indeed, district policy has long required school officials to perform an independent inquiry. Under state law, the district can fire teachers for conduct it deems immoral or unprofessional, even if the acts fall short of criminality. Rooney, for instance, allegedly showed up at the house of the first student at night and drove her around in his car. Had the district substantiated this, it might have been grounds for dismissal. In the meantime, "if there's some smoke there, then we should err on the side of the security and safety of students," said district Supt. Ramon C. Cortines. That's the policy.

The reality, the investigation found, is that the district has erred on the side of protecting its staff. To protect employees' privacy, files containing past misconduct allegations generally do not follow them to a new campus, according to the district. As a result the accused is free to molest other unsuspecting students.

Rooney (pictured left) an assistant principal at the time of his arrest, was sentenced to eight years in prison for molesting four girls at two Los Angeles schools. Rooney pleaded no contest in August (2009) to four counts, including a lewd act on a child under 14. Two Markham Middle School students were molested between January and March 2008, and two others were students at Foshay Learning Center when the molestions began. Rooney worked as a teacher and later dean of students at Foshay, and as an assistant principal at Markham. He was fired by the school district after the investigation.

Until a year or so ago there was no centralized system for tracking employees accused of child molestation or other serious crimes from school to school. The district relied on index cards that were supposed to be placed in an employee's file to indicate an accusation had been made, according to sworn depositions by district personnel in various civil cases. Even that didn't always happen. "We didn't do a very good job, historically, on capturing a lot of that," David Holmquist, the district's chief operating officer, said in an interview.

WHEN FORMER LOS ANGELES SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT David Brewer declared that top district officials were unaware of the past behavior of Markham Middle School molester Steven Rooney, longtime teacher Mat Taylor claimed he was appalled. He’d known Rooney when they worked together at Fremont High School, and the picture fresh in his mind was an unpleasant one.

According to Taylor, a little over a year ago he filed an official grievance charging that Rooney exhibited violence, shoving another administrator, while he was, ironically, vice principal in charge of discipline at the sometimes troubled Fremont campus. “They had their warnings,” Taylor told the media. “There’s no reason why [district administrators] could claim that they didn’t know what was going on — except incompetence. They knew what was going on, they just passed him on anyway. ... Somebody had to call up and say, ‘Put this guy back in a position’” that resulted in his transfer to unsuspecting Markham.

Media accounts have reported that Rooney was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department for statutory rape at Fremont [High School] before being arrested on March 4, 2009 for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl who attended Markham. But according to Taylor, Rooney had well-known anger-management issues at Fremont. Taylor’s allegations dispute Brewer’s premise that district administrators did not realize they had a problem on their hands when they moved Rooney to Markham. In fact, school-district policy calls for a standard of internal investigation that is far more strict than LAPD’s threshold of criminal wrongdoing.

In October 2008, a former dean pleaded no contest to failing to turn over evidence to authorities regarding an alleged sexual relationship between Steven Thomas Rooney, a former teacher at Foshay Learning Center, and a student.

Ricardo Guevara!

The first complaint against Guevara came in 1995, when the teacher's aide was working part time at the 37th Street Early Education Center in the Exposition Park area. A 9-year-old student reported that he had taken her into a closet and asked her to lower her pants, according to a sheriff's report contained in court records. The principal reported the incident to both L.A. Unified and the Los Angeles Police Department, according to police documents. But the records say the girl gave inconsistent accounts. Guevara, who denied the allegation, was never charged with a crime. He was cleared to return to work at the same school, according to court documents.

Several years later, he was hired full time at the Miramonte Early Education Center near Huntington Park. District administrators knew of the 1995 accusation, but no one informed school leaders, according to an associate principal's 2008 deposition.

In 2002, a 6-year-old accused "Mr. Ricardo" of repeatedly touching her groin during class one day. Guevara was removed from the school and assigned to a district office where he had no access to children, while sheriff's deputies investigated, according to the deposition of Elizabeth Blackwell, the associate principal. Blackwell supported him during the investigation because she thought he was a good employee, she told sheriff's investigators, according to their 2003 report filed in court.

After initially denying that he had touched the student, Guevara admitted he may have accidentally touched her crotch when several male students jumped on his back, according to the sheriff's report. Detectives forwarded the case to the district attorney's office. But with no witnesses besides the child, who over time mixed up details of what had occurred, prosecutors declined to pursue the case. Guevara returned to Miramonte to work with children.

His career as a teacher's aide ended only on Nov. 6, 2003, when a Miramonte parent reported that she had seen Guevara reach into the back of a girl's pants on the playground. The report prompted the two other girls to come forward with similar allegations. In 2005, a jury convicted Guevara of multiple counts of lewd acts with a child. Blackwell "told me she felt really bad that she allowed [Guevara] to be near the girls," the sheriff's investigator wrote in his report. In deposition testimony, the administrator said she would have supervised Guevara more closely had she known of the allegations dating to 1995.

Michael McMurray!

Even when they know about sexual abuse complaints, some school leaders rely on police to substantiate them without thoroughly following up themselves.

In 2002, a student reported that Michael McMurray, a fourth-grade teacher at Plainview Avenue Elementary School in Tujunga, had on several occasions forced a girl to sit on his lap and pose for a camera, according to school officials' later depositions and a report of suspected child abuse. Police arrived on campus to investigate but concluded that "there was nothing there," and recommended that the matter be addressed by administrators, according to the principal's later deposition.

After learning that police had been called, McMurray "fled from the school" in the middle of the day, telling his bosses later that he had had an anxiety attack, according to a police detective's deposition in 2007. School administrators did not report McMurray's behavior to police at the time, the detective said, and officers did not interview the teacher.

Principal Pamela Worden and her vice principal gave McMurray a memo telling him not to make videotapes, according to her 2007 deposition. Worden testified that she never asked to see the contents of McMurray's camera "because the idea that it would be improper photos didn't occur to us." Through a district spokeswoman, Worden declined to comment for this story, citing pending litigation

Two years later, during class, McMurray wrote a note to a fourth-grader on a Post-it, according to police documents. "Are you comfortable with me putting my hand on your knee?" he asked. He drew two boxes for her to check: "Yes" or "No." He asked a follow-up question: "Promise not to tell any one?" The girl checked no to both questions, but he rubbed her leg anyway, according to a Los Angeles police child abuse report filed in October 2004. McMurray, who molested her on at least two occasions, later pleaded no contest to sexual abuse of a child and was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Ten other girls stepped forward, complaining that they too had been touched inappropriately by McMurray, but the charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. At least three girls have sued the district. The girl who received the Post-it notes is now 13. Traumatized and fearful of being teased, she has struggled in school and is failing most of her classes, her grandmother said. "She has a lot of anger."

James Marlo Duffin!

The year 2006 was supposed to have been a turning point for the district. As a result of two disturbing cases, officials claimed to have tightened policies on allowing accused molesters back into classrooms. They claimed to have also underscored the importance of alerting administrators and school leaders to the potential risk.

James Marlo Duffin, a fourth-grade teacher at Middleton Elementary School in Huntington Park, had been investigated in May 2001 for allegedly touching a girl's buttocks. After prosecutors declined to take the case, Duffin's principal wrote him a letter ordering him to use better judgment and avoid putting himself in situations where students or parents could question his intent. Duffin returned to the classroom. Almost two years later, while teaching at Gulf Avenue Elementary School in Wilmington, he was accused of touching a girl's buttocks and molesting two other students.

In 2006, he was convicted of a lewd act involving one of the girls and sentenced to six years behind bars. The family of one of the other accusers sued the district and settled for $90,000. It is not clear whether Duffin's new principal had been told of the prior allegation.

Paul Thompson!

That same year the district adjusted its policies to require that campus administrators be informed when an employee was transferred as a result of sexual abuse allegations -- though principals still don't get the employee's file containing his or her history of such accusations. Moreover, the district stressed that if it determined on its own that sexual abuse had occurred, it would move to fire the employee regardless of what law enforcement decided. Also in 2006, the district paid a nearly $1.2-million settlement to a boy allegedly molested by a special education aide at Germain Street Elementary School in Chatsworth.

Even as he was applying to be a trainee at the district in 2001, the aide, Paul Thompson, was under investigation by police for allegedly raping a 10-year-old boy at a group home where he had worked. Prosecutors ultimately declined to pursue the case, citing a lack of evidence. A district background check failed to pick up on the complaint, according to later deposition testimony by a district official. Nor did the district notice that Thompson had forged a job-reference letter from his former employer at the group home.

Once hired at Haynes Elementary School in West Hills, Thompson met a 4-year-old with a learning disability, according to his mother's testimony in a later criminal case. Thompson began tutoring the boy after school and also baby-sat him. "I trusted [Thompson]. He was endorsed by L.A. Unified School District," the victim's mother testified. When the boy transferred to Germain in 2002, Thompson followed as his full-time aide.

Between July 2002 and March 2003, Thompson repeatedly forced the boy to perform sexual acts, according to amended criminal charges in 2005 alleging eight counts of lewd acts with a child. After a jury acquitted Thompson on five counts and could not agree on the other three, a mistrial was declared. In a second trial that ended in November 2005, the jury acquitted him of all remaining charges. Within a week, Thompson was reassigned to Blythe Street Elementary School in Reseda to be a special education aide to a female second-grader, according to his later testimony. It is unclear whether his new principal was told of the prior allegations. Shortly after his arrival on campus, however, an attorney for the district had Thompson pulled from the classroom because of concerns about his history. District leaders then reminded personnel administrators to warn principals about employees who had been accused of a sex offense before they were returned to the classroom.

Meanwhile, the family of the Germain student had sued the district in 2004, contending that the boy suffered from nightmares and sometimes refused to kiss his mother, fearing he still had Thompson's germs in his mouth. After the case was settled in 2006, the mother said she got a call from an L.A. Unified lawyer asking her to help the district fire Thompson by testifying in a disciplinary hearing. "It was hard to do after all they put us through in the civil" case, she said. "But I just wanted to make sure it would never happen again." Thompson was ultimately fired. The district cited his forged letter of recommendation and "molestation" of a student, records show. He could not be reached for comment.

A public outcry!

Based on the district's own policies and pronouncements, the actions of Steve Thomas Rooney should have been thoroughly scrutinized by the district in 2007. That year, before he was transferred to Markham Middle School as assistant principal, Rooney had been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He allegedly brandished a handgun at the stepfather of a student who attended Foshay Learning Center in the Exposition Park area, where Rooney had been a dean. Police told senior district officials that they had found evidence in Rooney's home of a possible sexual relationship between Rooney and the student, police later told the media. But the student, 17, did not cooperate with the LAPD investigation, police said. No charges were filed. Without conducting their own investigation, L.A. Unified officials reassigned Rooney to Markham after a few months. In 2008, Rooney was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 13-year old female student from Markham at his home.

After that arrest, he was charged with various sexual crimes involving four girls, two former students at Foshay and two at Markham. He has pleaded guilty. The second arrest prompted a public outcry. After apologizing, then-Supt. David L. Brewer issued an order making the superintendent personally responsible for deciding whether someone accused of molestation should be returned to a classroom. He also ordered improved procedures for notifying principals of new employees' past misconduct and pledged to work more closely with law enforcement. The mother of Thompson's alleged victim is skeptical of the district's promises. When a reporter talked to her earlier this year about the Rooney case, she wept. "All I wanted was to effect change," she said, referring to her cooperation with the district. But when she learned of the latest allegations against Rooney, "that's when I realized I have failed."

Sexually Offensive Cops, Part III

July 3, 2009 - A Chicago police officer shot and killed a 16-year-old boy Thursday night when the teen pointed a gun at officers during a foot chase in the Lawndale neighborhood, authorities said. The teen was identified as Rakeem Nance, of the 1900 block of South Troy Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Nance was enrolled last school year as a 9th grader at Collins Academy High School, 1313 S. Sacramento Dr., said Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond in an e-mail. June 29, 2009 - 19-year-old Deandre Jones, of the 6500 block of South Wood Street, was shot in the leg by Chicago police on Sunday, June 28, 2009. He has been charged with assaulting a police officer and unlawful use of a weapon, police said today. Jones also was charged with one count of theft because the gun he allegedly aimed at pursuing police officers was stolen, Kubiak said. During the second week of October 2009, Administrative Law Judge William Andrew Messer upheld the firing of Dallas police officer Anthony Williams who had been repeatedly investigated for allegedly making improper advances, some of them while on duty. Here's a quick summation of his background:

In 1992, a woman told police that Williams (pictured left) fondled her while her 6-year-old child watched. In 1995, a high school student told police she'd been sleeping with him since she was 16. In 1996, investigators concluded he'd had sex with a woman while on duty. He was fired, but later reinstated after appealing the decision. Other complaints followed. In the most recent case, Felisha Taylor told investigators that she met Williams on a 911 call, that they had sex while he was on duty. Williams admitted having sex with the woman. Again, he denied having sex while on duty. He also got into an on-duty confrontation with her in the parking lot of her apartment complex in June 2008. During that exchange, Williams received a call to check on a residential burglary alarm. He never answered the call, records show.

Senior Cpl. Anthony Williams, a 20-year Dallas police veteran was fired for failing to respond to an emergency call but it is not the first time he has been fired or accused of wrongdoing, and some wonder if he will be reinstated again. Williams declined to comment. His attorney Phil Burleson Jr. said Williams is innocent of the allegation that led to his recent firing. He said the firing was "not justified."

Here's a list of the sexual misconduct complaints during Williams' career:

•»A woman in 1992 said that after Williams went to her home on a harassment call, he fondled her as her 6-year-old son watched. She said he flattered her, and they began a brief sexual relationship.
•»A woman said Williams began a sexual relationship with her 16-year-old granddaughter in 1994 after the teen called to report an attempted molestation.
•»A woman in 1996 said Williams had sex with her in a motel after he gave her a ride from a store. She said she left the area later because she was afraid he would arrest her for prostitution.

•»In all cases, Williams denied doing anything inappropriate or having sex on duty. In the 1992 case, the woman eventually stopped cooperating, and the probe ended with a finding of "unfounded." In the teen's case, Williams denied having sex until she turned 17. Authorities sought to charge him with criminal sexual assault, believing the relationship began when she was 16. But a grand jury declined to indict him, and a police internal investigation ended with an "inconclusive" finding.

•»In the 1996 case, then-Police Chief Ben Click fired Williams in 1997. But a civil service trial board reinstated him five months later.

•»On June 19, 2008, Williams was on duty when he went to her apartment complex because he believed she slashed his tires, and the loud argument witnessed by a neighbor lasted for an hour and a half. During that exchange, Williams received a call to check on a residential burglary alarm but never answered the call, records show. Investigators could not prove sexual misconduct allegations but found that he violated policy when he failed to answer the burglary alarm call, didn't devote full attention to his job and became involved in an on-duty disturbance. He was fired Jan. 29, 2009. Burleson said Williams plans to appeal.

A Midland Independent School District police officer has been arrested and charged with two second-degree felonies; one of sexual assault of a child and one of improper student/ teacher relationship, police reported late Wednesday night. C.J. Note: The victim in this case is a 14-year old female.

Angel Ramirez, 30, (pictured left) was placed on administrative leave without pay pending an official investigation, according to a statement from the district issued Wednesday. C.J. Note: Mr. Rameriz has since been fired!

The Midland Police Department has led the investigation with “full and complete” cooperation from MISD police and district administration, officials said. The investigation stemmed from an outcry of a 14-year-old female student.

The incident allegedly occurred between September 2008 and January 2009 at a north Midland residence, police said.

Ramirez was being booked into the Midland County Detention Center at press time.

Neither the MPD nor MISD Superintendent Sylvester Perez released the name of the school where Ramirez is employed.

Two former Cleveland police officers were in court Monday, March 30, 2009 one on charges of selling narcotics, prescription fraud and statutory rape and the other officer on perjury charges. According to reports, Nathan Thomas, 38, was arraigned in Bradley County Criminal Court on charges of selling prescription painkillers, prescription fraud and statutory rape charges. 10th Judicial District Attorney General Steve Bebb said a status hearing is now set for May 11, 2009 for Thomas. "At that time he'll have the opportunity to enter a plea or the case will go on to be tried," Bebb said.

Bebb indicated the attorney for former city police officer Jonathan Hammons, 23, filed for a pre-trial diversion in court Monday, March 30, 2009 (pictured left). Hammons was arrested Dec. 17, 2008, for allegedly lying to agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation about a shooting incident when Cleveland police officer Chris Mason was shot in the hand. The incident occurred shortly before midnight Nov. 30, 2008. Mason and Hammons were reportedly at the home of a former police officer, Dennis Hughes, 34, looking at a handgun Hughes had for sale. The gun, which was in Hughes' possession, discharged and Mason sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. The allegations are that Hughes was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the shooting. Hughes was also arrested and was charged with reckless endangerment, perjury and filing a false report.

Thomas was arrested Jan. 5, 2009 for allegedly selling prescription painkillers he received from Dr. James Wallace Sego and again on Feb. 19, 2009 for allegedly having sexual relations with an underage female. Dr. Sego was also arrested Dec. 18, 2008, and was charged with felony counts of illegally selling prescription painkillers and other drugs. Sego practices internal medicine and pain management. Reports indicated the 10th Judicial Drug Task Force investigated both Thomas and Sego for the past two years before their arrests. According to the indictment, Sego allegedly wrote prescriptions for hydrocodones and oxycodones for Thomas in excess of 7,000 pills in one year's time with no medical basis.

In a December 2008 interview, Drug Task Force Director Mike Hall said, "When a doctor prescribes this many pills to a patient, they become a drug dealer because this facilitates the patient in selling these painkillers. There is no reason why someone should be receiving 7,000 painkillers a year." Christi Lee Ann Cabrera, 30, a former employee of Sego's, was also arrested March 3 and was charged with with multiple counts of forgery, drug fraud and identity theft. According to the indictment, Cabrera stands accused of forging prescriptions for the purposes of obtaining hydrocodone painkillers and for forging the signature of another employee in order to receive prescriptions. The indictment indicated Cabrera committed the crimes from January 2008 to December 2008.

CLEVELAND, TN (WCJB) - Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested Two Cleveland (Tenn.) Police Department officers indicted by the Bradley County Grand Jury.

Dennis Hughes (pictured left) was indicted on one count of Statutory Rape, two counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure and three counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Nathan Thomas was charged with two counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure and two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

On January 5th, the District Attorney asked the TBI to investigate accusations surrounding the officers' involvement with a 16-year-old. Hughes was booked into the Bradley County Jail on $100,000. Hughes posted bond.

Nathan Thomas

(pictured left)Thomas was dismissed from the Cleveland police force in January while Hughes resigned a month earlier. Those actions came after an internal investigation into the shooting of another officer in his hand. He was booked on a $50,000 bond which he posted.

Authorities also arrested Thomas in January. He was charged with prescription fraud, possession of narcotics for resale and possession of narcotics.

He's accused of selling prescription medications he got by prescription from a physician.

Oscar David Gilliam

ALBANY, GA — A Dougherty County Police officer assigned to the multi-jurisdictional drug unit surrendered to Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday after being charged with the attempted rape of a woman last week, authorities say.

Oscar David Gilliam was released on bond Wednesday after surrendering himself to the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office with his attorney, Albany Police Department Spokesperson Phyllis Banks said. Gilliam is charged with violation of oath of office, false imprisonment and sexual battery, Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek said.

The charges come a week after a 25-year-old woman told Albany Police Officers that Gilliam attempted to rape her at Superior Creek Lodge on North Slappey Boulevard where he works part time as a security guard, Banks said. The woman’s name and other identifiers are being withheld by the APD out of concern for her safety, Banks said.

Cheek said that Gilliam had been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation. "It’s our policy in situations like these to place the officers on administrative leave with pay until there is either an indictment or a conviction," Cheek said. "But, however, I have initiated the process for termination."

An employee with the DCP since 2005, Gilliam was attached to the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit. "This kind of behavior is something we are just, frankly, not prepared to tolerate," Cheek said. Watch video here!

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany Police Officer is in jail charged with inappropriately touching a 16-year old girl in his custody.

G-B-I Agents arrested 25-year old Matthew Brown Wednesday night. He's charged with sexual assault, sexual battery, and violation of oath of office, all felonies. A-P-D fired the 3-year veteran Tuesday

On January 5th Brown was supposed to drive a 16-year old runaway back home to South Albany. She told her family Brown instead touched her.

GBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Mark Pro said "After the intiation of the report that he did, evidently she stayed in the vehicle , and they went to another location where the incident occured."

Brown is in the Dougherty County Jail without bond.

Allegations of sexual assault have prompted the resignation and arrest of Murray police officer Michael Spilman. A complaint led West Valley City police to book Spilman for aggravated sexual assault and forcible sexual abuse.

Spilman (pictured left), a 10-year veteran of Murray's police force, is sitting in the Davis County Jail for his own protection. Police fear possible reprisals from Salt Lake County Jail inmates recently arrested by Spilman.

Police say they're releasing very little information about the case to protect the victim.

BUFFALO — A U.S. District Court judge is weighing whether to give suspended Falls Police Officer Ryan Warme one trial or two on charges he engaged in multiple crimes involving sex, guns and drugs while he was both on and off duty. In a spirited one hour of argument in U.S. District Court in Buffalo on Thursday, Chief District Court Judge Richard Arcara also wonder aloud whether prosecutors could meet the legal requirements of one of the charges against Warme.

Warme’s (pictured left) defense team is seeking one trial on his so-called sex crimes and a second trial on the gun and drug charges he faces. He is accused of violating the civil rights of three women by either sexually assaulting or abusing them, using his position as a police officer to extort sexual favors from a Falls prostitute, conspiring to distribute both powdered and crack cocaine, committing federal firearms offenses and failing to arrest a known felon who was in possession of a weapon.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Hugh Scott had previously rejected Warme’s request to have several of the charges against him dismissed, but also ruled that his request for two separate trials should be considered by the judge who would handle those trials. Warme's Defense attorney argued the charge involving the prostitute should be dismissed because what occurred is not a crime under the federal Hobbs Act, which relates to obtaining property through extortion. The defense attorney told Arcara an act of oral sex is not “property.” “We argue this is coercion but not extortion,” the defense attorney said.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony Bruce said, “This woman was a prostitute, doing what prostitutes do” and did not “charge” Warme “because he was a police officer and she feared him.” However, Arcara noted the Hobbs Act applies to interstate commerce and asked Bruce, “Where is the interstate (commerce)?”

“Is there proof she was a business that operated outside of New York state,” the judge asked. “I can’t imagine how you’re going to prove interstate (commerce) on this count.” Bruce replied the woman would testify she had clients who came from outside of New York to obtain her services.

Defense counsel also argued Arcara should throw out a public corruption charge against Warme that claims he deprived the citizens of Niagara Falls of his “honest services.” The federal law that creates that crime was the subject of a Supreme Court hearing on Tuesday and the justices are expected to rule on the constitutionality of the law early next year. “The government had a tough time across the board defending this statute and it may well be on life support,” defense counsel told Arcara. “The reach of the statute is overbroad. It appears there is an even money chance the statute will get tossed.” The judge suggested he might hold off on a ruling, pending the Supreme Court action.

On the issue of whether Warme is entitled to two separate trials, Daniels told Arcara his client is facing two cases, not one. Defense counsel said Warme would testify in his own defense on the sex crimes but invoke his Fifth Amendment rights relating to the gun and drug charges. “We ask the court for the right to tell our side,” defense counsel said, “the problem we have is if the sex cases are packaged with the drug charges we have a problem because we choose to exercise our Fifth Amendment rights (to refuse to answer some questions that might come from prosecutors).”

Bruce said there was no reason why Warme could not take the stand in his own defense in a single trial. “He can testify on the sex charges and if defense counsel doesn’t open the door on his examination, I won’t be able to question him on the (drug and gun charges),” Bruce said. “And the court can give an instruction to the jury (to explain Warme’s refusal to testify about those charges).” The prosecutor told Arcara that Warme should only receive one trial because, “Every count in this case, to one extent or another, is dependent on (Warme’s) position as a police officer.” Arcara told the lawyers would consider their arguments and issue a ruling.

NIAGARA FALLS, NY - A Niagara Falls police officer is facing shocking allegations of drug trafficking and sexual assault charges. The accused officer was not on duty when arrested by members of his own police department. He surrendered his badge and gun a month prior when placed on administrative leave for departmental infractions.

Terrance Flynn, U.S. Attorney said, "Obviously he's out of control." U.S. Attorney Terry Flynn says Niagara Falls Police Officer - Ryan Warme - will be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Buffalo Federal Court.

The 27 year old officer stands accused of drug trafficking - sometimes while wearing a uniform - and forcing two women to have sex with him. "A person who would take such risks or use a firearm in uniform and commit such acts it's a disgrace to the police department," said Flynn.

In the 12 page criminal complaint, federal investigators accused Warme of forcing one woman to have oral sex, while "he had one hand on his gun." A second woman claims he raped her last year. With regard to the drug charge, Warme was allegedly purchasing cocaine from drug dealers in Niagara Falls, at one point - "two to five times a week."

Flynn said, "To think that someone sometimes in a law enforcement uniform used their power and position to take advantage of other people or sell drugs, a major problem in Niagara Falls."

News 4's Lorey Schultz asked, "How long has he been out of control?"

"Approximately one to two years. He's 27 years old so he hasn't been on the force that long," said Terry Flynn.

Niagara Falls Police initally opened the case and then brought in federal investigators. Officer Warme is the son of a retired Niagara Falls Police Captain. Investigators believe the accused threw his dad's name around, during the commission of the alleged crimes.

"Obviously at some juncture of his life I wouldn't know but he must have had respect for law enforcement, proud of what other family members did, but the allegations here are that he clearly went the wrong way," said Flynn.

So if convicted on the charges, what is the penalty? "The civil rights charges are the most extreme you can bring under federal law. He could spend the rest of his life in federal prison," said Flynn.

The six suspects in the [alleged] brutal gang rape of a 15-year-old Richmond, Calif., high school girl all pleaded not guilty Tuesday, Decemer 1, 2009. The juveniles -- 15-year-old Cody Ray Smith, 16-year-old Ari Morales and 17-year-old Marcelles Peter -- are being charged as adults. The other defendants are Jose Montano (pictured, above left) Manuel Ortega (pictured above right) and Elvis Torrentes. If convicted, all could be sentenced to life in prison. The defendants face a litany of charges, including rape in concert, and sexual battery stemming from the Oct. 24, 2009 incident, which was witnessed by 20 or more people who did not call police or attempt to intervene.

San Leandro, CA (WCJB) -- A former San Leandro police officer has been convicted of false imprisonment for groping two women while he was on duty, his attorney said on December 2, 2009. Former Officer Greg Cannedy, 45, who retired from the department (with pension) in 2007, entered no-contest pleas to two counts of false imprisonment - one a felony, the other a misdemeanor - said his attorney. Judge Kevin Murphy of Alameda County Superior Court sentenced Cannedy two months ago to 18 months of formal probation and six months of home detention while under electronic monitoring, his attorney said. Two former county judges, Michael Conahan and Mark Ciavarella Jr., are accused of taking millions of dollars in kickbacks to send juveniles to private detention facilities. They await trial on racketeering charges.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WCJB) -- A third county judge in northeastern Pennsylvania has been charged with corruption on the bench, becoming the latest public servant to be caught up in a widening federal probe that has snared 20 people since January. Luzerne County Judge Michael Toole, 49, will plead guilty to fraud and tax charges and resign from his post, according to court documents filed Wednesday in federal court in Scranton.

Prosecutors said Toole "corruptly abused" his position by concealing his financial relationship with an attorney who appeared before him in court in an insurance case. Toole, elected in 2003, faces a maximum sentence of 23 years in prison and a $350,000 fine. Toole's attorney declined comment. President Judge Chester Muroski immediately removed Toole from his judicial responsibilities, leaving just seven judges on the bench out of a normal complement of 10.

"Clearly this action deals a severe blow to our already shorthanded Luzerne County Court," Muroski said in a statement. "I have spoken with my remaining colleagues and while we are all extremely disappointed with these recent developments, we are, once again, committed to making a total effort to maintain the business and function of the Luzerne County Court.

In the latest case, prosecutors said Toole (pictured left) accepted the free use of a New Jersey beach house from a plaintiffs' attorney whose client was before Toole in an uninsured motorist case. Toole appointed an arbitrator sought by the attorney without telling the other side of their arrangement. Federal prosecutors said in court papers that "the appointment was corrupt, deceptive, and biased and was made in a manner that undermined the fairness and integrity of the arbitration process." The attorney is not named in court papers. Toole was also charged with failing to report $30,000 in income on his 2006 tax return. Wednesday's charges were not unexpected. It became public knowledge months ago that Toole was under investigation. He abruptly cleared his court schedule in mid-November, telling Muroski he would be taking an extended vacation. Before his election as judge, Toole was a law partner with Ciavarella.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A defunct South Florida law firm run by an attorney now charged with operating a huge Ponzi scheme gave more than $6 million in the past year to charities and nonprofit groups. A federal bankruptcy court filing details contributions by the firm Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler to more than 100 organizations. Former firm CEO Scott Rothstein (pictured above left in this Nov. 5, 2009 file photo of attorney Scott Rothstein, left, and Gov. Charlie Crist (seated), FL-R.) has pleaded not guilty to racketeering and other charges stemming from what prosecutors say was a $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme involving legal settlement investments. The biggest amount was more than $2.5 million to Rothstein's own Rothstein Family Foundation. Big donations also went to Boys and Girls Clubs, arts groups, Jewish organizations and several groups affiliated with professional athletes.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WCJB) -- A once high-flying attorney who courted politicians and celebrities was arrested Tuesday on federal racketeering and fraud charges alleging he operated a $1 billion investment scheme involving phony legal settlements. (Jew) Lawyer Scott Rothstein (pictured, above left) was led into the Miami FBI office in handcuffs following his early morning arrest on five charges, including a violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, or RICO law, often used against the Mafia and other criminal organizations. Rothstein was also charged with wire fraud, money laundering, and mail and wire fraud conspiracy. The combined maximum prison term for convictions on all counts is 100 years, according to court documents.

A few hours after his arrest, Rothstein pleaded not guilty in federal court even though the information charging document -- rather than an indictment -- used by prosecutors typically means a defendant has agreed to eventually plead guilty. "There is no deal at this point in time," said Rothstein attorney. He added that Rothstein -- shackled and wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans in court -- intends to repay as many investors as possible. "At the end of the day, the people who deserve to get money back hopefully will," he said. Rothstein was ordered held without bail by U.S. Magistrate (Jew) Robin Rosenbaum, who noted that Rothstein had wired some $16 million to a bank account in Morocco and flew on a chartered jet there in late October before returning to Florida. Rothstein carried up to $500,000 in cash on that trip, she said citing evidence from prosecutors. "At least at some point, [Jew] Rothstein intended to flee," (Jew) Rosenbaum said.

The charging document cites unnamed "other conspirators" who also played key roles in the fraud, suggesting that more people could face charges. The document also said that (Jew) Rothstein paid "gratuities" to unidentified police officials "to deflect law enforcement scrutiny" of his activities. The criminal case was seen as inevitable after (Jew) Rothstein returned from Morocco early last month amid mounting questions from investors and the FBI about missing money. Federal agents have seized (Jew) Rothstein's boats, including an 87-foot yacht, as well as 20 luxury cars and numerous other assets, including his share of the Miami Beach mansion formerly owned by fashion designer Gianni Versace. Prosecutors are also going after 21 homes and other properties linked to (Jew) Rothstein in Florida, New York and along Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay.

Meanwhile, the once fast-growing (Jew) law firm Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler is defunct and (Jew) Rothstein has been disbarred by the Florida Supreme Court. Several investors have already filed lawsuits seeking their money back, including one case demanding more than $100 million in damages. (Jew) Rothstein promised huge returns on investments in legal settlements he said would pay out over time. Prosecutors say most of the settlements never existed and that (Jew) Rothstein operated a Ponzi scheme, using money from new investors to pay older ones.

Shortly after the scandal broke, the Florida Democratic Party returned $200,000 in contributions from Rothstein and his law firm. The state Republican Party gave back $150,000, and Gov. Charlie Crist returned $9,600 that (Jew) Rothstein and his wife, Kim, had donated to Crist's campaign for the U.S. Senate. (Jew) Rothstein's office is filled with photos of him with politicians from around the country, including former President George W. Bush, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Arizona Sen. John McCain and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was also close to Miami Dolphins great Dan Marino and many South Florida business and community leaders.

Judge E. Curtissa Cofield

Connecticut - (WCJB) About 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2008, Superior Court Judge E. Curtissa Cofield, 60 (pictured left) was driving through a highway construction zone on Route 2 in Glastonbury when her car sideswiped a parked state police cruiser occupied by Trooper Michael Kowal. Prosecutor John Whalen said that the judge's eyes were bloodshot and that she smelled of alcohol. Urine samples showed her blood alcohol content was 0.16 percent at 1 a.m. on Oct. 10, 2008 and 0.17 percent at 2:04 a.m., he said — twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Cofield was originally appointed in 1991 as the state's first black female judge after Gov. Lowell P. Weicker Jr. nominated her and legislators confirmed her. She was last renominated by Gov. M. Jodi Rell and approved by lawmakers in 2007. Her current term expires on June 6, 2015. Repeatedly using vulgar and racial insults, Cofield argued with a police officer — addressing him as "Negro trooper" at one point — who was trying to process her on a charge of drunken driving in Glastonbury last October, a police video released shows. Cofield also is heard twice on the video using the racial term "nigger." The state's Judicial Review Council released the video after it found cause to pursue five judicial misconduct charges against her, several of them based on what was termed disparaging, demeaning or "racially inappropriate" language. The council has scheduled a hearing Feb. 9, 2009 to determine whether Cofield violated the judicial code of conduct and, if so, what action to take against her.

The video shows an uncooperative Cofield continually interrupting state police Sgt. Dwight Washington, who was asking a series of questions while processing her on the DUI charge at the Glastonbury police headquarters. At 2:17 a.m. on Oct. 10, nearly two hours into the booking at headquarters, Cofield is seated at a desk and calls her husband on her cellphone. Washington, who like Cofield is black, is standing about 3 feet away. Her end of the conversation, in part, is: "I don't need a ride home. ... I'm a criminal. ... What? What? ... Well, they got the head nigger in charge and he … Which one, the head nigger in charge? … Washington. OK. That's H-N-I-G...." Then she hands the phone to Washington, who talks to her husband about getting the car off the highway. Washington asks, "Do you guys have Triple-A?" Hearing that, Cofield interjects: "Oh, no. We don't. We're ghetto Negroes. We don't have Triple-A."

Earlier, when asked if she was injured, Cofield replied: "Yeah, I am. I'm humiliated by your f-----g attitude." Asked if she was ill, Cofield replied, "I'm sick of being treated like a freaking Negro from the 'hood," and added: "Write it down, write it. Did you hear what I just said?" Asked what her illness was, Cofield said: "Negro-itis." "Do you need to take any medication now?" Washington asked. "Yeah, I need to take anti-Negro, ummm ..." When he asked what she weighed, Cofield replied: "Why don't you look at me, tell what you think?" Asked how much alcohol she had had that day, Cofield replied: "I had no alcohol to drink, Mr. Washington."

Cofield often talked over Washington as he tried to question her, saying again and again that she needed to go to the bathroom. Washington politely insisted that she answer the questions first, and said that she could get to the bathroom sooner if she did so. "That's your interpretation, but we'll see what they say in court, won't we, Mr. Washington?" she said. Washington asked if she was willing to take an intoxication test. She replied: "Mr. Negro Washington. I need to go to the bathroom, and then I will take the test." "It's Sgt. Washington," he replied, adding, "Don't disrespect me, and I won't disrespect you." At another moment, after she had given a urine sample, Cofield asked Washington: "Do you have a reading on my urine test, Negro trooper?" When asked to sign a form that she understood her rights, Cofield said, "I'm not signing anything, because when it comes down to the bottom line, who's smarter — me or you? We'll figure it out, won't we?" Asked if she took any drugs, Cofield responded: "Oh, yeah, I'm a crack addict. Do I look like that to you?" Then she directed her attention to the first state trooper on the scene of her accident and asked him, "Can you tell me why you came first, and then you had to bring him [Washington]? Is it because you had to make this valid by bringing a Negro?"

State legislators had been hoping to view the video, and now will be able to do so and consider whatever decision the Judicial Review Council makes. Rep. Michael Lawlor, D-East Haven, co-chairman of the legislative judicial committee, has said that lawmakers could theoretically seek Cofield's removal. He said he believes that the council "will consider whether to recommend that she be removed as a judge. ... I think in many ways the ball is in Judge Cofield's court to convince them that she deserves to remain on the bench. I think if any legislator, any judge, any prosecutor, any police officer, did the exact same thing ... they probably would end up losing their job."

Cofield apologized Dec. 8, 2008 at Superior Court in Manchester for sideswiping a state police car with her BMW, and was accepted into an alcohol education program. MODESTO, CA - Authorities have arrested an ex-police officer for allegedly molesting two teenage girls at his Modesto home. Modesto Police Department Sgt. Brian Findlen said Francisco "Frank" Drummond, 41, was arrested early Friday morning at Modesto Junior College where he's currently employed as an instructor. Drummond had recently resigned as a reserve police officer for the Ripon Police Department. Findlen said he previously worked for the Patterson Police Department and the Modesto Police Department from 1994 to 2000.

Police Instructor Arrested!

Findlen said the two female victims were friends of Drummond's teenage daughter. The Modesto Police department was investigating Drummond (pictured above) after officers were dispatched to his home in the 900 block of Wellesley Drive on the evening of August 22, 2009. The investigation suggests that the suspect touched each of the girls in a sexual nature while at his home, said Findlen. The investigation continued through the week and ended with Drummond's arrest Friday, August 28, 2009.

Drummond has been booked at the Stanislaus County Jail for felony charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14 and with a 14 or 15-year-old minor. His bail was set at $75,000. Findlen said Modesto Police Department detectives have alerted officials at Modesto Junior College and the Ripon Police Department of the circumstances surrounding this case.

Steve Thomas Rooney

Steve Thomas Rooney, a former assistant principal employed by Los Angeles Unified School District, pleaded no contest Thursday to molesting three teenage girls and having unlawful sex with a fourth minor. Under the plea deal, Rooney agreed to be sentenced next month to eight years in state prison after being convicted of having sex with a student for a period of two years, beginning when she was 15 years old. Under the same deal he pleaded guilty to molesting a second girl at Foshay Learning Center before being transferred to Markham Middle School in Watts, where he molested two more girls. The girls ranged from 13 to 15 years in age.

Dressed in a black suit with black-rimmed glasses, Rooney (pictured left) clasped his hands as he stood to enter his plea. Asked by the prosecutor if he understood the plea would result in an eight-year prison sentence, Rooney, 40, replied, "Yes, madam." At one point, he told the prosecutor, "It is just that I am a little nervous." Rooney, who was originally charged with more than a dozen felony molestation violations related to the four girls, will have to register as a violent sex offender and serve at least 85% of his eight-year sentence.

L.A. Unified School officials and the Los Angeles Police department knew Rooney was under suspicion of having sex with a student. However, he was transferred to another campus where he found more victims. The case came to highlight serious deficiencies in how the Los Angeles Unified School District handled problem employees. Rooney was arrested last year on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old Markham student. It was soon discovered that the LAPD had told district officials in 2007 that Rooney was suspected of having sex with a Foshay student. Police told senior district officials that they had found evidence in Rooney's home of the sexual relationship.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute Rooney. He was initially assigned to a desk job at a non-school site. Upon learning that the District Attorney’s Office would not prosecute Rooney, district officials transferred him to Markham School. L.A. Unified officials failed to follow district policy, which required an independent investigation of abuse allegations before reassigning him. A dean at Foshay Learning Center who knew of the sexual molestation, but hid evidence relating to Rooney's criminal conduct. The dean was placed on three years' probation after being convicted of failing to turn over evidence related to Rooney's sexual relationship with the 15-year-old student. Another school official, Alan Hubbard, hid a romantic scrapbook prepared by Rooney's first victim. Prosecutors now allege he discouraged the victim from telling police she had had sex with the administrator.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Millwood high school and middle school coach has been arrested on complaints of lewd acts with a female student. Larry Ray Buck, 50, (pictured above) Piedmont, was arrested Tuesday on two complaints of lewd acts with a child. The school's Web site lists Buck as a middle school football coach and high school golf coach. The student's father called police after finding suggestive text messages on his daughter's cell phone, according to a police report.

On Monday, the student had a message from Buck that read "Round U. I'm the happiest and now the horniest when I'm around U... I can't quit thinkin bout kissin u and hopin for the chance to do it again," according to the police report. The 15-year-old student told police that Buck started talking to her about personal problems he was having with his wife in April.

"Mr. Buck and the female actually became acquainted when she was a student in his class last year," said Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow. "Through the summer months they did stay in contact in part by text messages and phone calls."
The student told police she had several meetings this summer with Buck during which they kissed, according to the report. "Ultimately there was an inappropriate physical relationship between these two," Wardlow said.

The student also told police that last week she invited Buck to come over to her cousin's where she was staying and asked him to come to the bedroom with her. She took off both of their pants and they began to kiss when Buck said he shouldn't be there and left, according to the report. The Millwood school district is located in northeast Oklahoma City.

John Gisler

John Gisler, 41, (pictured left) was charged July 6, 2009 in Tulsa County District Court with lewd molestation, forcible sodomy and second-degree rape involving a teenager he mentored through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma. Prosecutors also charged Gisler with possessing numerous images of child pornography on a computer at his home in the 300 block of South 44th West Avenue. In June, a 17-year-old boy told police that Gisler had been molesting him since he was 14.

Gisler has been a science teacher at Whitney Middle School since August 2005.

He previously taught at Clyde Boyd Middle School and Central Junior High in Sand Springs and at Sapulpa Middle School. He also had been a special education paraprofessional, working with middle school students in Jenks Public Schools and with high school students at Edison Preparatory School in Tulsa.

Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Keith Ballard had recommended July 20 that the school board fire Gisler. The teacher did not attend Monday’s school board meeting, at which he was to have had a due-process hearing.

Midland Police arrested a 23-year-old Midland High School teacher Friday on a charge of improper educator/student relationship, Midland ISD and Midland Police Department said. She was released on a $25,000 bond. Kenzi Friday, 23, (pictured above) is accused of having sexual relations with a 17-year-old male student. The incidents took place between the start of the school year through the beginning of April at a north Midland residence, a Midland Police Department news release said. Friday had been with MISD since February 2008 and submitted her resignation to the district, Communications Director Woodrow Bailey said.

Midland Police Lt. Tony Dickie said MPD was contacted by MISD Police Chief David Colburn on April 23, 2009. An MISD news release said preliminary information provided sufficient cause for additional investigation and the teacher’s subsequent arrest. Friday, a 2004 Midland High graduate, taught world geography and was a varsity cheerleading coach, according to the district Web site. She holds a bachelor’s degree from University of the Permian Basin in history and is married.

The charge of improper relationship between educator and student is a second-degree felony. Penalty is not less than two years and not more than 20 years and up to a $10,000 fine, Dickie said. “These are very serious allegations and the entire situation is upsetting to us all. We fully support the investigation and await more information from local law enforcement,” Superintendent Sylvester Perez said in the district news release.

In a separate February 2009 incident, an MISD police officer, Angel Ramirez, was charged with two second-degree felonies — one of sexual assault of a child and one of improper student/teacher relationship.

A judge Friday set bail at $10 million for a veteran Los Angeles police detective (pictured above) accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend's wife in Van Nuys more than 23 years ago. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert J. Perry cited the "strength of the prosecution's" case against Stephanie Ilene Lazarus, saying the "evidence of the defendant's participation in the killing of Sherri Rasmussen is compelling" and that there is an "obvious and clear incentive for the defendant to flee." The judge noted that Lazarus is "undoubtedly aware" that she would spend the rest of her life in prison, adding the "probability of her not appearing at trial is a near certainty."

The 49-year-old woman had been jailed without bail following her June 5 arrest for the Feb. 24, 1986, slaying of Rasmussen, a 29-year-old Glendale Adventist Medical Center nursing supervisor who was shot three times in the chest and badly beaten in her Van Nuys townhome. The judge ruled Dec. 10 there was sufficient evidence to require Lazarus to proceed to trial on the murder charge. But he determined there was "insufficient" evidence to support two special circumstance allegations -- murder while lying in wait and murder during the commission of a burglary -- under which a defendant can be held without bail (the judge is kidding).

Lazarus' attorney had been asking the judge to set bail at an amount between $300,000and $500,000, while the prosecution was asking for $5 million bail. Without the special circumstance allegations that could carry a possible death sentence, Lazarus is facing a maximum 27-year-to-life term on the murder charge and a gun use allegation. Lazarus had been a police officer for two years at the time of the slaying and been on the force for 25 years when she was arrested at the police department's downtown Los Angeles headquarters.

Lazarus -- who is married to a fellow LAPD detective and has an adopted 3-year-old daughter -- was charged June 8 with the murder charge, and was ordered the following month to give a dental impression that prosecutors sought to compare to an apparent bite mark on the victim's arm. A Los Angeles Police Department criminalist who examined a DNA sample from Lazarus and DNA from the mark on the victim's arm testified last week that they matched.

December 7, 2009^Update!

LOS ANGELES -- Prosecutors have begun presenting their case against a veteran Los Angeles police detective accused in the 1986 killing of her ex-boyfriend's wife. Stephanie Lazarous, 49, (pictured left) is accused of shooting, Sherri Rasmussen, a hospital nursing director, more than 23 years ago. Lazarus dated the victim's husband, John Ruetten, for several years before the marriage, officials said. Lazarus was actually mentioned in the original case file because of her involvement with the victim's husband. She had reportedly threatened Rasmussen at the hospital where she worked and at her home. The 25-year police veteran, who handled art forgery cases, pleaded not guilty to capital murder in May. Superior Court Judge Robert Perry refused to dismiss the case against Lazarus ruling that her right to a fair trial were not violated.

During the first day of testimony for Lazarus' preliminary hearing, a former criminalist from the L.A. County Office of the Coroner testified he responded to the bloody crime scene and collected a saliva sample from a bite mark on Rasmussen. Prosecutors say the case against Lazarus focuses on a key piece of evidence: saliva collected from a bite mark left on the victim. Authorities say that DNA sample links Lazarus to the murder.

Rasmussen's body was found by her husband in the living room of their Van Nuys condominium on Feb. 24, 1986. Investigators say she had been shot three times with a .38-caliber gun, bitten and badly beaten. Police say Lazarus reported her personal .38-caliber revolver stolen from her car in Santa Monica shortly after the fatal shooting. Lazarus stated that her pistol -- which was the same caliber as the one used to kill Rasmussen -- was stolen out of her car while it was parked in Second Street. The gun was never found. Santa Monica police acknowledged the theft report, but declined to make it public, citing the ongoing murder investigation. Lazarus worked patrol duty in the San Fernando Valley when she joined the force. She was later promoted to detective and since 2006 has worked in a unit that tracks stolen art, according to police records.

The murder charge against her includes the special circumstance allegation of murder during the commission of a burglary. Lazarus also faces a separate allegation of personal use of a handgun. She was arrested June 5, 2009 by detectives who worked across the hall from her. She has remained in custody ever since. If convicted, she could face the death penalty.

A [v]eteran Los Angeles Police Department detective was arrested today in connection with the 1986 slaying of her ex-boyfriend's wife. [Detective] Stephanie Ilene Lazarus, 49, was arrested this morning at 8 while working at Parker Center, the LAPD's downtown headquarters. Police allege that Lazarus beat and fatally shot Sherri Rae Rasmussen, a hospital nursing director, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Rasmussen (pictured left) was found badly beaten and shot by her husband in the living room of the couple's Van Nuys condominium on Feb. 24, 1986. Shortly after the slaying, two men robbed another woman in the area at gun point and homicide detectives came to believe the pair had killed Rasmussen when she came upon them burglarizing her home, according to news reports. Rasmussen's parents, newspapers reported, offered a $10,000 reward for the men's capture. The search for the two men led nowhere. Like thousands of other homicides from the period, the case remained open and was left to collect dust on department storage shelves as detectives struggled to keep pace with L.A.'s dramatic surge in murders and violent crimes.

But with homicides in the city falling to historic lows, LAPD detectives have had unusual freedom in recent months to revisit cold cases. Detectives returned to the Rasmussen killing, testing DNA material allegedly left by the killer. The tests showed that it belonged to a woman, disproving the theory that the victim had been killed by a man.

The original case file, Beck said, contained a reference to Lazarus , who was known at the time to have had a romantic relationship with the victim's husband, John Ruetten. When suspicion fell on an LAPD cop, the case took on sensitive and explosive tones inside the LAPD. Only a small circle of detectives and high-ranking officials were made aware of the investigation, in order to minimize the chances that word would leak to Lazarus that the Rasmussen case had been reopened.

Last week, undercover officers surreptitiously trailed Lazarus as she did errands one day, waiting until she discarded a coffee cup, straw or something else with her saliva on it, Beck said. Her saliva sample was sent to a lab for comparison with DNA evidence Rasmussen's killer left at the crime scene. The genetic code in the two samples matched conclusively, police allege.

Lazarus was not pursued as a suspect at the time of Rasmussen's slaying, police said. There is no indication that any other active or retired LAPD officer knew about Lazarus's alleged role in the killing, Beck said. Lazarus joined the department in 1983, LAPD records show. After several years as a rank-and-file patrol officer in the San Fernando Valley, she was promoted to detective and, in 2006, won a high-profile assignment to a unit dedicated to tracking stolen artwork. There are references in department publications to Lazarus earning commendation from the public for her work.

She hardly shunned the spotlight. In a recent LA Weekly article profiling Lazarus and her partner, Don Hrycyk, she joked that all she knew about art was that it "hangs on the wall," and added, "after working here and seeing all the phony art, I said, 'I can do that.' " Lazarus, who has an adopted 5-year-old daughter, according to Beck, told the magazine that she had started taking oil-painting classes and had first become interested in art when she visited Europe as a teenager. Last year, she gave interviews to reporters after helping to capture two men convicted of a string of thefts of bronze statues and sculptures in the Wilshire area and in Beverly Hills.

The Murder

An official at Glendale Adventist Medical Center said "an important part of the team" was lost when a key nursing director was shot and killed this week in her Van Nuys apartment. Los Angeles homicide detectives on Wednesday were searching for suspects in the Monday morning death of Sherri Rae Rasmussen, 29. Police said they believe Rasmussen was killed when she surprised one or more intruders who beat her and shot her once before stealing her car. Investigators also were searching for the car, a silver two-door, 1985 BMW 318i with the license plate 1MJK850. The body was discovered by her husband, John, when he returned home from work about 6 p.m. Monday, police said. The couple had been married three months, according to hospital officials. Hospital spokesman Ken Rozell said Rasmussen had taken a day off work because she had injured her back while doing aerobic exercises. Rasmussen had been director of nursing of the hospital's 150-bed critical care and surgical units for two years. Althea Kennedy, vice president of nursing, said: "I can't imagine not working with her. She was such an important part of the team."

Johannes Mehserle

OAKLAND — Former BART police Officer Johannes Mehserle will have to stand before a jury on a murder charge, a judge ruled Thursday, rejecting arguments from Mehserle's attorney that a previous judge erred when ruling that enough evidence was presented to push the case to a full trial. "For purposes of the preliminary hearing, the question is whether a strong suspicion of guilt exists, not whether all doubt as to guilt is eliminated," Alameda County Superior Court Judge Thomas Reardon wrote. "The magistrate's factual finding that defendant knowingly fired his gun is supported by the evidence presented."

Mehserle's attorney, Michael Rains, has argued that Mehserle (pictured left in handcuffs and leg irons) intended to use his Taser against Grant but pulled his gun by mistake. "(The Taser) is bright yellow and looks nothing like his service weapon," Reardon wrote. Even without witness testimony, Reardon ruled, enough evidence was presented through videos to push the case to a jury trial.

"The video (see below) shows the defendant using his right hand to withdraw his service weapon at the right hip; it does not show him using his left hand to withdraw the Taser at his left hip, nor does sit show him using (his) right hand to cross his body to withdraw the taser," Reardon wrote. "Also, the video shows the officer looking down at the weapon as he tries to remove if from its holster and shows the officer extending the weapon in front of him before firing."

The Jan. 1, 2009 Murder

OAKLAND — Former BART police Officer Johannes Mehserle must stand trial for murder in the death of Oscar Grant III, a judge declared Thursday, saying evidence presented during seven days of hearings convinced him the shooting was intentional. Grant, of Hayward, was killed during the early hours of Jan. 1 as he lay prone on the Fruitvale BART station platform with at least one arm behind his back and another officer's knee on his neck.

The shooting was captured by at least a half-dozen passengers who began recording the actions of BART police officers with cell phone cameras and digital cameras because many said they believed the officers were abusing their authority.

That lack of statement from Mehserle played a role in the decision to push the case of murder to a jury, Clay said. While at least one other officer said he heard Mehserle announce his intention to Tase Grant, Clay said no one can say for sure what the 27-year-old was thinking. Without a statement from Mehserle, Clay said, the defense that it was a mistake could not be validated.

But without a statement from Mehserle, Clay said he could conclude only that the former officer intended to kill Grant, especially given what another officer testified he heard Mehserle say before and after the killing.

Officer Tony Pirone testified that he heard Mehserle caution him that he was going to Tase Grant before the shot fired. But after the shooting, Pirone said Mehserle told him that he thought Grant was going for a gun.

Clay said those two statements were "inconsistent." If Mehserle thought Grant was going for a gun, then he is trained to respond in kind.

Clay also questioned the testimony of other BART officers as well, appearing to agree with Deputy District Attorney David Stein that their testimony exaggerated the situation on the platform in hopes of justifying their actions. And he said the BART officers who responded to the scene made matters worse by the way they treated Grant and his friends.

At one point, Clay compared the BART officers to Oakland police and said if Oakland police handled the situation it would not have become as "elevated."

Clay's ruling came about a half-hour after he denied requests by Rains to continue the preliminary hearing and demanded the defense attorney end his case immediately.

Clay said that the witnesses Rains wanted to call brought no relevance to the case and that the video expert he had on the witness stand had already said everything that pertained to the shooting.

"We realize that this case is not over but we are certain we will get justice whether it be God's justice or man's justice," said Cephus Johnson, Grant's uncle. "This was no accident, my nephew; my sister's son was murdered."

Wanda Johnson, Grant's mother, said she was hurt and saddened by the entire incident but said she hopes the upcoming trial will prove police officers must be sensitive when responding to situations.

Johnson also called on BART to take action against some of the officers who responded to the scene on New Year's Day.

"BART needs to take a stand. Something needs to be done," she said.

Mehserle (pictured above left in handcuffs and leg irons) quit the BART police force shortly after the killing to avoid giving a statement to investigators and was arrested Jan. 13 in Nevada. His defense attorney, Michael Rains, chose not to have his client take the witness stand during the preliminary hearing.

"There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Mehserle intended to shoot Oscar Grant with a gun and not a Taser," Alameda County Superior Court Judge C. Don Clay said. "These young men did nothing to warrant the use of deadly force."

"This case is really not about the videotapes. It boils down to the state of mind of Mr. Mehserle," Clay said. "It is clear Mr. Mehserle shot Oscar Grant. It is clear Oscar Grant was unarmed.

"This argument is totally dependent on what the defendant's state of mind was "... the defendant didn't give a statement," Clay continued. "If I heard directly from the defendant, maybe I could draw these conclusions."
